Leafs kicking tires on Afinogenov

Quote:
Hearing the Leafs are kicking the tires on Afinogenov;had a nice year this past season in Atl (24 goals). Toronto goal-starved; is it a fit?

Seriously though, It could be an OK deal if it were a 1 year deal, just to get us some goals until some youngsters step in the lineup.

He played surprising well last year and seemed rejuvenated. I won't mind at least gauging what his demands are.

He could be a solid option on the 2nd line.

Perfect fit to play with Grabovski. Just need to bring back Sergei Berezin to complete the line.

Keep on building that small sized top six Burke...

If it was maybe for a year or two at a reasonable price then maybe I'd consider it. He would make a decent addition to the 2nd line.

The Leafs need to sign him size or not.Because if Burke just keeps adding all grit he will need to fill out roster with penalty killers next.

what's sad is that would be an entertaining line to watch until each of them was knocked unconscious on an end to end rush

I'd love too see him here. We need another top 6 winger, and hes a hell of a player. Maybe someone from the organization can convince him to play a little bit on the other side of the puck as well; like he did for Russia.

He simply does not play defense and is full of boneheaded giveaways.

I do not want him for any price.

He'd instantly become the Leafs 2nd best offensive player. If they can get that for 2 years and under 2mil, they should go for it

yup i also heard that apparently afinogenov would not resign with atlanta if kovalchuk was traded. maybe it also works the other way around.

If the price is right this would not be bad, he showed good chemistry with Kulemin at the worlds.

Just my opinion, but the Pens just struck out with another winger who put up impressive numbers in a losing environment, who then proved not ready for prime-time this spring. I see much the same with Afinogenov. Exciting as hell, but a very "hollow" player, a one-way numbers collector.

If Burke needs short-term filler (cheap entertainment) while rebuilding his squad, he might make sense, though the guy is not a Burke type. But I would not want him on a serious contender like the Pens, short of perhaps as a late season, shot-in-the arm, playoff run-type acquisition.

I only want him if it's on a 1-year contract. Couldn't hurt, and he'd be playing for another contract.

probably the only reason they're even considering him...

Versteeg-Bozak-Kessel
Kulemin-Grabovski-Afinogenov

not bad. Small, but not bad.

Well, somebody has to score, right?

I mean, yeah, I was banking on 112 goals from Kessel, but still, a little support wouldn't hurt.
