That's true actually... flew over my head.
On the other hand if the kings seriously paid 11.88mil a year to Kovy...

i guess this is a total rumor:from somebody on their board.....
"Was just listening to the fan 590 Dreger was on and reports that a Blockbuster trade is in the works.

Dreger reports that Kovy wants to sign for 12 mil and a long term. He also says his wife wants to go to LA because of the good weather. So to clear cap for that contract he says if Kovy agrees to sign with LA this deal will happen

Carter and Gagne for Kopitar, Brown, Quick and Jack Johnson

That will clear enough cap space to sign Kovy at 12 mil it will also leave the Flyers with 600k in space with all those players coming back. Once Kovy agrees to deal Flyers will pull the trigger on the trade and then Kovy will sign minutes after. As for the 3 way thing he also reported that the Flyers will likely flip a d-man to Boston to make room for Jack Johnson.

As for the justifications for trading Carter. Dreger said hat they think Kopitar will be better and that Carter won't be the same player with his 2 broken feet. Kopitar is also younger.

LA love Kovy and will do this. Even if they are giving up a lot of key players. They think Kovy, Carts and Gags may fill that void.

Man this blew my FREAKIN MIND IF DREGER IS RIGHT THE FLYERs ARE GOING TO LOOK FUKIN SCARY

EDIT: DEAL ONLY HAPPENS IF KOVY AGREES TO SIGN IN LA BEFORE HAND. THEN TRIGGER IS PULLED AND LA SIGNS KOVY MINUTES AFTER. IF KOVY DOESN'T AGREE NO DEAL. HOWEVER, HE SAID GAGS WILL BE TRADED EITHER WAY "

Volpster, I think any willing LA Kings fan should be permitted to travel to your home and slap you once (but only once) in the mouth as hard as they can.

The Flyers would have to throw JvR into that deal for it to be fair IMO. Otherwise it's pure rapeage.

That is purely fantasy though.

I could see something like

to Kings: Gagne, Laperriere
to Flyers: Stoll, Conditional 1st or 2nd depending on whether Gagne signs in LA

& then the Flyers turning around and signing Turco with the extra 3 mill cash.

Finally, shipping out Carle for a 2nd round pick and signing a FA 5th defenseman, say Randy Jones.......

If this happens, then it's acceptable, but I don't think Waddell is running the Kings.

If Waddell had bread and Homer had peanut butter I don't think they'd ever be able to successfully make a sandwich.

Sure I'd take that deal. But 1) deals like that don't happen anymore and 2) LA isn't that stupid. Trade a 22 year old #1 center whose ceiling exceeds Carter's imo, a 25 year old scoring winger and captain, one of their top d-men who happens to only be 23, and their current starting goalie who is 24. They wouldn't move all that for two players, who albeit we value highly, are UFA and RFA next year.

Lol dude, Gagne's double the value Stoll has.
That's beyond ridiculous.
And JVR isn't going anywhere.

Eh, Gagne is more expensive and an expiring contract, and Stoll is signed for two years at a bit less than 2M less.

Other fun things:

1) Over the last three seasons Stoll has 124 pts to Gagne's 132. Yes, that's due to injuries, but injuries (should) significantly affect his value.

2) The last three years Stoll has won 56.02%, 57.21%, and 55.09%. You might be thinking to yourself at this point: wow, that's exactly the type of player we could use centering our third line! You would be right.

3) Stoll is a few years younger than Gagne.

So, no, I don't think Gagne has double the value of Stoll, particularly given our salary cap situation now and next year. And That's with Gagne being my favorite player... he's just too much of an injury risk to imbue with a ton of value at this point.

Take that deal and run. Then flip Carle and Boucher for a few picks/prospects

Brown-Richards-JvR
Giroux-Kopitar-Hartnell
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Shelley-Betts-Lappierre

Pronger-Johnson
Timonen-Coburn
Mezaros-O'Donnel

Quick
Boucher

Only issue is NHL10 only lets you have 3 players in a trade

The rumor is crap, but I do think there might be something going one in terms of Gagne going to LA, something coming back here, something else going to Boston who sends return to LA.

That's a lot of players moved just for the Kings to open up what? 3mil in cap space? I would think they'd move Handzus or Stoll before any of Kopitar, Johnson, Brown. And their D would look pretty weak without JJ.

Doughty, JJ, A.Greene, Scuderi are bonafide, but their #5-6 are Harrold and Drewiske. They've got some decent prospects on D, but why would they stack their forwards to leave themselves with 3 young D and Bernier in net?

i'd probably do that trade even if you took Kopitar out.

Carter + Gagne
10.25M

for

Brown, Johnson, Quick, (Kopitar)
6.4M (13.2M)

then again, that would be counter effective for LA haha
but, with Kopitar in the proposed deal, we would be adding cap.
this wouldn't work for either team, either way, even as much as LA would be ***** in the initial proposal.

Stoll's one and a half year younger than Gagne, big deal.
The expiring contract isn't an issue to me, I'm confident he's willing to sign a contract that won't hurt the Flyers.

If you really think Stolls anywhere near the player that Gagne is I'm sorry for you, Stolls also a center, if you think that's what we need your wrong.

And 5.25 minus 3.6 is 1.65, which isn't a bit less than 2mil.

If your are willing to pay Stoll, a player we have no use for outside of the faceoff circle 3.6mil you are retarded.
You can get so much better fits for Gagne.
