Why are the Avs not having a prospect evaluation camp?

There was one last year, and it really gave fans a great view of players like Duchene and O'Reilly. Why isn't there one this year?

Looking at this thread, it seems like we are one of (if not the only) team to not have one. WTF!???

Is there proof that its cost, or are ppl just using Kroenke as a scapegoat, again?

I struggle to think anybody in their right mind would come out and admit they're not holding a youth camp because they're a cheap son-of-a-*****.

I'm not the only one thinking this Cody. There's a lot of speculation going around about Kroenke... especially since he's trying to buy the St Louis Rams.

Can you think of any other reason?

Not really, but I haven't given it much thought until now. I never knew that we were basically the only team not having one this year.

lol, how much would it really cost to run a development camp? A few hundred thousand?

Stan already owns 40% of the Rams, he doesn't have for fork over a lot more to become Majority owner. I know this fanbase needs one thing to latch onto and obsessively complain about, but this one is really pushing the envelope.

Every year the guy invests millions of dollars into something. He's well diversified. Nobody ever batted an eye when he forked over $131 million to build his soccer park for the Rapids. Nobody lost their mind when he bought 18,000 shares of Arsenal. Why freak out now when he's trying to buy the remaining 60% of the Rams? I can't stress enough that he and his wife are worth 22 billion combined. They both want the Rams. The few hundred million it will take to complete the deal is like 20 bucks to you or I. It's NO BIG DEAL! If there was anything worth spending money on, we would be allowed to do it. Why spend just to spend money though? Let the Avs brass decide what's right for the team.

It probably has more to do with Biller being shuffled around. Wasn't he in charge of player development for a long time here?

So without him in the same position the whole organization of a development camp completely falls apart? Really?

We're not talking about a complicated deal here...

Well it doesn't sound like anyone has a concrete answer.

I wonder if Jori has any idea.

And maybe Dater will do some snooping on here and provide us with an answer on his twitter or blog.

It's more legitimate than calling our owner cheap without any basis or facts to back that up lol.

Not really. Both are completely speculative.

StanGetz maybe you should look more into the Rams thing... He wants to be complete owner of the Rams but due to NFL rules he can't own any franchise that is not a football team.

What does the cross ownership rule have to do with what we're talking about?

Why would he drop money on a team that he most likely will not be an owner of in the future?

Unless ownership IS in fact transferred to his wife.

I thought there was some talk that they were going to let him be majority owner despite the ownership of the other teams.

If that's a no go, I'm sure he would just have his wife own it.

Either way, I don't think it's an issue.

The NFL isn't going to say no to a guy of Stan's stature. He has a plan in place to shuffle his holdings here in Denver to his son, iirc.

Either way, he'll be calling the shots, and there's no way he gets rid of the teams that occupy not only his building (the can) but also his home here in Denver. He'll work it out, he's just that kind of guy.

The fan-base wide use of Kroenke as a scapegoat is almost as redundant and boring as a post by the_fan...
