Seeing as Ottawa has searched for goalies and Chicago needs a gritty winger I think this would benefit both teams:

To Sens: Corey Crawford

To Hawks: Nick Foligno

Why I think both teams do this:

Hawks do not seem to be willing to give Crawford a shot in the NHL and need someone now that Ladd is gone.

Sens get a quality goaltending prospect that seems to have fallen out of favor once Niemi took the starting job.

Pick or prospect may need to be included on Chicago's end.

Thoughts?

I think Ottawa passes on this due to the fact we have Lehner and Murray is very high on him.

The Sens are very high on Lehner. We're not ready to give up on Nick yet.

Crawford is a 25 yo minor leaguer who has put up very average numbers in the AHL.

Foligno is worth more than a potential back up goalie.

I'm pretty sure Crawford will be our backup next season.

I m pretty sure Foligno has much much more value than that. And Ottawa doesnt need another AHL or backup goalie.Mike Brodeur is probably better than Crawford from what we ve seen last season.

Foligno+Elliott+Campoli
for
Sharp+Crawford+3rd

That's the best I can build around Foligno/Crawford

The Hawks need Crawford next season, even though he's not very good.

So Crawford is going to overtake one of Elliott or Leclaire... I'll believe that when I see it. I'm satisfied going into next year with that duo. Foligno is a real good player for us and he still has a lot of untapped potential. ~50 point forward for a backup goalie seems like a terrible idea.

This.

We have youth in goalies. Aside from Leclaire, who will be gone after this season if he doesn't have a very good year, we have Elliott, a good young goalie, just not quite ready to be a prime time #1 yet, and Lehner, who is currently pencilled in as our goalie of the future. The Sens also are not in a rebuild a la the Oilers or Leafs, so if we traded for a goalie, it would have to be an established starter in the NHL, and for only a couple of years until Lehner and Elliott are ready to be prime time NHL goalies. We certainly aren't going to give up a young RFA power forward, which we certainly have a shortage of as it is, for an AHL goalie that I doubt many people outside of the Hawks' organization have even heard of.

Pass.

Crawford is a good goalie prospect? I think he has little/no value at all right now... he might be a good prospect if he was 4-5 years younger but not at 25... and not with so many good unsigned goalies around.

Is Hawks management actually planning on getting rid of Huet? I know it needs to be done, but I am asking because it has been speculated at nauseam.

Crawford was way ahead of Brodeur on the Blackhawks depth chart when both were prospects in Chicago's system.

Regardless, there's no way this kind of deal works for Ottawa.

But saying Crawford is a bad goalie is off the mark, and assinine.

Hell no.

If you want a gritty winger you can have Ryan Shannon

Unfortunately, I think neither team does this. Here's why:
Crawford is going to get a shot at the NHL as a back-up to Niemi. He's cheap and the Hawks can't afford to keep Huet up in the NHL.

Foligno, a young forward (something Ottawa needs) with plenty of potential, isn't going to be traded for a goalie prospect who is in his mid-twenties and has not made the NHL yet.

Funny thing is even Crawford's low cap hit will hurt him compared to Toivonen. Crawford deserves a shot and might be a decent net minder. And while i am a Hawk fan it is clear that today he is not worth Foligno. ... Not even close.

No thanks. The Sens already have a better young goaltender in Brian Elliott and have a huge prospect in Robin Lehner. Plus, we're not dumping Foligno, he's set to have a nice season IMO.

But maybe Crawford and say a 5th rd pick for Carkner?

Maybe Kopecky for Carkner?
