Bauer has a free goal light iPhone app, download it and tape your iPhone to the wall!

What's it going to be used for? Indoors, outdoors... summer, winter... behind glass/fence/netting or exposed to pucks/balls... etc.

I'm sure putting one of these on a metal fencepost -- available at most hardware stores -- will work well enough for many uses. Open it up, break out the soldering iron, and run a switch to wherever you need it.

I hope to eventually make my own.

I found a 1960s-1970s era fire truck light bar with two "gumball lights" (I think this is the right term) and siren at an old industrial site I was working at (it was headed for the landfill along with the old fire house it was in). I just need to get off my ass and wire it up to see if I can get it working, add a push button to set it off, and I have a sure fire way to annoy the hell out of my wife and neighbors.
