Aaron Portzline one of your sources?

Anyways, great grab by Columbus. Very shrewd move, I'm sure there were quite a few suitors calling.

But but I thought Hitchcock was going to do it since he figures he might as well do something for the money he makes

Someone get a picture of Hitchcock with a snake eye, glaring look and then Filatov skating around the ice

I'm told he enjoys long walks on the beach.

I'm convinced someone is feeding them disinformation. Howson may be a whole lot more in control than we realize.

hopefully this is just a rumor, while it will happen one day that boughner ends up in the NHL for him to leave his sweet set-up that he has in windsor to take on a ass't coach position would be a shock! Head coaching position yes. He was just named a ass't for team canada WJ's, so it would be a shock for him to leave for this coming season.

From Tom Reed's Twitter :

Quote:
"With the exception of goaltenders coach Dave Rook, all CBJ coaches will have played a minimum of 241 NHL games"
Quote:
"The previous #CBJ coaching staff only had one member, Gord Murphy, with legitimate NHL playing experience."

Bob Boughner, who has guided the Windsor Spitfires to the last two Memorial Cup trophies, will join the Blue Jackets as an assistant coach on Scott Arniel's staff, The Dispatch has learned.

This is a really good hire, IMO. I remember saying that I wanted us to hire another young AHL/CHL coach after Arniel got the job. I talked about how, not only have we not had a good NHL coach, we haven't had any good up and coming assistant coaches. Coaches that we, and other teams, would want as their head coach some day.

I also voted that Arniel would get the job and wanted us to pick Johansen. No wonder I like GMSH so much while others want him fired .

Wouldn't this have made a bit more sense if we actually had drafted Cam Fowler?

So, you hire a coach just because of one player who may or may not ever play for your team? Uhhhh, NO!

"I want a completely new staff. CLEAN HOUSE! I would like to see maybe one AHL/Junior coach brought in with Arniel. Another good, young coach. We not only need the best coaches, but we need to start developing good, young coaches. That is one thing we may be worse at than even our own head coaches. We haven't had any good, young coaches with our team or our AHL team. At least none that I can think of."

Isn't what they did with the goaltender coach? I'm not saying you do it I just think it makes a little bit more sense is all since obviously they have experience with those players.

True, but the goaltending coach only has 2 guys on the big club to coach. He's actually more of a consultant.

Basing a coaching staff on NHL Experience as opposed to PEI Experience. What a concept!

Wow.

Very good signing if true, BB has been amazing since he came to Windsor, and did a phenomenal job of turning a struggling team into a CHL powerhouse. He's a great coach, really all there is to it.

I'm a little surprised, as everything I've heard suggests that he was staying with Windsor for at least another year, plus he was recently named an assistant with Team Canada for next years WJHC. Personally hope it's not true. I would love to have him back with the Spits next year. He's definitely good enough to make the jump to the NHL eventually, and if true this is a great move for Columbus.

Awesome, another assistant who won't accept mediocrity. This is the making of an exciting coaching staff.

Dave Rook? Granted Mason was on the roster at the time, but still, we hired him essentially because of his ties to 1 player.

Oh yea I forgot to make a comment about how I'm in on this thread before someone comes in and mentions how this is such a horrible hire, how Howson is so incompetent, and how it doesn't matter who they hire so long as *so and so player(s) are here* and as long as *so and so is president* and so long as *the ownership blah blahs*
