Shin guards

I'm having a minor issue with one of my shin guards where the shell around the knee cap sometimes pops out of place and on top of the plastic shell on the front of the shin. It's not really a big deal, but it's annoying and after having them for 7 or 8 years now I've decided to get a new pair.

I was looking around online today, and I only saw one, maybe two pairs without straps. My current pair doesn't have any straps, and I definitely prefer them without straps. So did I somehow manage to miss others or do nearly all shin guards come with straps?

Many come without. But if you really can't find any in your area without straps try shopping online or just buy a pair with straps and cut them off.

I looked online, only saw 1 or 2 pairs without straps. I'm going to go to the only hockey store in town tomorrow to look, but their selection has been going downhill for quite some time now so I doubt they'll have any.

I dont know of any new shins that do not come with some kind of strap. Jofas used to not come with them, but RBKs do have them, as do CCM, Easton, Bauer, and Warrior.

Easiest is to just cut them off when you get them.

I think all new model shin guards come with straps but many of the straps are removable.

Yah, I have Easton Stealth S9's and the straps can just be removed since they connect with velcro.

If you're willing to shell out a bit more cash, some of the higher end new shin guards come with comfortable, stretchy/soft straps that feel and fit a fair bit different from the standard straps. Worth trying on at least, maybe you won't mind straps if they're the right kind!

It's not that I mind them. I just haven't used them in so long that it feels unnatural.

Fair enough. As everyone else says, it's pretty easy to remove the straps on most pairs.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. I tried on maybe a dozen pairs and most had traditional straps. Didn't really like anything I tried on so I decided I'll keep using them for now and bought a helmet instead.
