Lamoriello spent enough $$$$ on Volchenkov, Grossman's client. Least Jay can do is deliver Kovalchuk back to Jersey !

Make sure you know the posts location and be sure to post it on his personal page if Kovy in fact signs for less than $9m

I think NJ is probably where Kovalchuk is going to end up, but I saw on capgeek that the Devils have ~4.7M in cap space. That apparently means that someone is being moved. Have you guys heard any rumors about who it's going to be?

Maybe Kovalchuk fits into what the Devils are looking to become into the future. Tampa also didn't have a pipeline of NHL ready prospects. Fact of the matter is, there's another lockout looming in 3 years. It may just become irrelevant by then. We don't know, Marty's window is closing and he's 1 Cup behind Roy, and I want him to catch him. If Kovalchuk can help us get there, then more power to us.

PS: The world is probably ending in 2012, so, we won't even have to worry.

Hopefully we go out with 2 more cups.

Rolston (5M$) and Salvador (3M$) are the usual suspects.

Kovy signs with my Adult league team The Thunder out of Aspen Ice arena in Randolph. Terms are 365 dollar league fee payed, 12 back of beer per game, and 2 lap dances per win at post game parties for 5 years.... (e1)

We want it to be Rolston because he simply doesn't fit our team as well as the others, but of course it could be Zubrus, Langenbrunner (if he waives), or anyone not named Parise or Zajac.

Obviously, but what are we playing? Offensive uptempo forecheck game or the stretch pass from the defense game that Lemairosaurus Rex tried to use?

I think the former, rather than the latter.

If we use a stretch pass system with this defense we are in serious trouble.

Absolutely. I don't think our staff is comprised of idiots. I'd like to think we actually have a level headed staff. And Big Bird is back!!!

Same here but I still think we're missing a key piece of the puzzle in a PMD. Getting IK would be nice but to me, having someone that can move the puck is a must if we wan't to have success.

We should play the Avery pass. Intentionally give Sean Avery the puck at our blueline so we can have endless youtube clips of A-train laying him out. That's the goal.

Well probably at least two players have to be moved, you'd figure one is Salvador because he doesn't have a no-trade and is one too many stay-at-home defensemen for our team. Outside possibility it's White but he'd have to waive a NTC.

You'd have to think a forward is moved too both because we need more than Salvador's $3 million to fill out the roster and plus we'd have three monster wings in Zach, Ilya and Elias as well as Clarkson, Langs, Zubrus and Rolston (though Zubrus or Elias could play center I suppose) so just from a depth standpoint someone would have to be moved and Rolston's the most likely candidate because of his salary and diminishing returns, though again he'd have to waive a NTC.

But I don't think we'll find anything out for sure until (and if) Kovy's on the dotted line, then I expect the dominoes to fall quickly.

I just realized that maybe Grossman is trying to put pressure on teams to get into the mix by stating Kovy would like to make a decision today.

:/

So we probably won't know until tomorrow or next month

I think we'll get the puck mover in January. He'll pretend to be retired, but he'll play again.
