Brayden Schenn

What would it take to get him on the Oilers? I know he is worth alot but I'd like to see what Kings fans would think is a fair trade.

We would end up giving to much.

But:

Penner + Cogliano + Peckham/Chorney

For

Williams + Schenn

Besides Penner they would definitely ask for Hemsky.

It would just be too costly, I can't think of a reasonable offer off hand. I like the Williams salary dump, but the King's second most offensive needs is a true, cut and dry, #2 center behind Kopitar. The Kings are hoping Schenn becomes that guy. I don't see the Kings having any desire to move him; therefore, it would likely take an overpayment.

Yeah DL would prefer to package Schenn for a #1 center (1b) behind Kopitar.

Now that would actually be a good idea now that the kings are out of the Kovalchuk sweepstakes. If the Oilers don't care about winning many games next year and truly believe that Schenn can become a good 1-2 punch w/ Gagner, they could/should do Hemsky for Schenn or Hemsky + Cogliano for Schenn + Hickey.

I'd do Hemsky and Cogs for Schenn and Hickey!

Schenn is a good prospect, but I think he is also one of the most overrated prospects in the league. I really don't think he will end up being anywhere near as good as people thing/hope he will be.

Exhibit A. It would be dumb to trade either of those guys for Schenn.

I think LA would accept MPS + lesser prospect for him. OR even change the lesser prospect to a 3rd rounder.

Dumb or not, it'd take an overpayment like exhibit A to get the Kings to move him.

Exhibit B...

Penner + Cogliano + Peckham/Chorney

For

Williams + Schenn

It works both ways. Don't act so high and mighty on your soap box.

The Kings passed on MPS for a reason they wanted Schenn and still do.

Brayden Schenn is still only 18 years old and is this good already.

Why? Any reason why you think he won't be "as good"

I doubt the Kings move Schenn. They have a really good team as is, and you good players on entry-level contracts to go deep into the playoffs.

Except your valuaing Williams + Schenn as equal to Penner + Cogliano + Peckham.

Penner = Schenn...with Penner getting the edge in actual value because he is actually an NHL PLAYER.
Cogliano + Peckham/Chorney >>> Williams....you'd be lucky to find a team to take on Williams for free.

Then again, this is hfboards....

Haha! Penner is NOT Equal to Schenn! Schenn is much better! Yeah, Penner is an NHL player, but when Schenn develops a bit more since he is YOUNG, he will beat Penner with a wooden stick in terms of value and play. Schenn is a 5th overall pick and is only 18 years old whereas Penner is 27. That 32 goal season Penner had is probably going to be his best season of his career, but i can see Schenn getting 35 easily.

Schenn is too valuable to the Kings to trade unless it's for a proven 1b/2 center.

End of story.

Welcome to HFBOARDS!

Simply put, no he's not. Schenn hasn't proven anything at the NHL level; and there is something called the first round bust. The Kings are on the verge of experiencing it with Thomas Hickey.

You can see Schenn potting 35 consistently, but I've got a little news for you. Everyone who gets drafted that high does so because some people can see them putting up that level of production.... then reality sets in and often times they don't come anywhere near that.
