How about Paul Ranger? We have two Dmans from Norfolk (Lashoff and Wishart) who are (maybe) ready to NHL.

He's hardcore at blocking shots.

First bad move by Yzerman ... he's not perfect it had to happend one day . Unless you Play Clark as a bottom pair with reduce ice time you will ---> . Clark is best at blocking shots you will like him for that , i have no doubts , but you will go insane with all the other espects of his game. simply put , get ready for ALOT of turnovers this winter .

Clark was second in the NHL in blocked shots in 08-09 and 11th last year. For comparison he had 46 more blocked shots in 3 less games than Ohlund who led the Lightning last year. Clark also averaged about 3 minutes less of TOI too.

Also a nice fact, he scored 3 more points than Meszaros in 17 less games.

EDIT: In terms of his turnovers he had less giveaways than Meszaros, Walker, Ohlund, Hedman, etc. Obviously he has some warts but that's why he signed a one year deal for cheap.

For example...

Player A
64 GP, 20 PTS, 28 PIM, +6, 28 Giveaways, 20 Takeaways, 162 blocked shots, 55 hits

Player B
64 GP, 14 PTS, 38 PIM, +2, 41, Giveaways, 17 Takeaways, 172 Blocked shots, 153 hits

Player A is Clark, Player B is Anton Volchenkov who just signed a 6 year deal worth 25.5 million dollars.

If we preferably trade, or buy out Walker I'm happy with this. Otherwise I'm ok with it but I think there were better options still out there.

However I do like Clark and it's only for one year so as long as the money is decent then it's good.

If Walker disappears and Ranger comes back, I think the defense has the potential to be very solid to surprisingly good with good coaching from Boucher.

2 years at 3mil per. Seems a bit pricey.

Apologize for the misprint, but Clark signed a two-year deal, RDS reports $3 million per year; he made $3.5 mill last year with #Avs

In the last 3 days, our shots against have gone way down. I didnt know much about him. But after reading about him, I like it.

This may mean the end of the Matt Walker era in Tampa.

Don't like it all. I like Clark but he's not worth 3M a year and certainly not considering he SHOULD be a 5/6 dman.

This also means Walker has to be moved one way or another now.

EDIT: I will say I'll give him a chance and I do like what he brings but the money seems like too much to me.

Anybody think it's a misprint and it's 3M total for 2 years so 1.5M a year?

Sooo even at 3m that's still .5 less than the Avs were paying him.

I do, but then I'm relying on the Google Translate. Not sure how accurate it is, but the excerpt from the article is:

Quote:
Le vétéran défenseur Brett Clark a signé un contrat de deux ans d'une valeur de 3 M$ avec le Lightning de Tampa Bay.
Supposedly, this should read:
Quote:
The veteran defenseman Brett Clark signed a two-year contract worth $3 million with Tampa Bay.
I think that it is plausible the value of the entire contract could have been misreported as the cap hit because initially the contract was believed to be a 1-year deal. That's my guess.

I was (perhaps too subtly) complimenting you on a post well done, particularly for the blind comparison to Volchenkov.
