As has been noted many times... the hockey media leaves a lot to be desired.

**** YOU SHELLEY
why are you mad at Jody Shelley? dont fault him because Holmgren went full retard.
So If I am not mistaken if Carcillo does in fact go to arbritration with the Flyers and wins, Holmgren can either walk away and Carcillo is a UFA or Holmgren accepts and he cant trade him this season.
**** you Holmgren. jackass.

Well 'wins' isn't so much the case, the arbitrator sets a $ value on Carcillo based on the arguments, he doesn't declare an actual winner per se. Whatever that amount is set at the Flyers can either accept the salary and term or allow Carcillo to become an unrestricted free agent by refusing it.

If he gets an offer sheet for roughly 1.52M or so (depending on the current calculations) he'd net us a 2nd round pick.

I thought arbitration prevented an offer sheet?

I'm not sure it makes sense to go off on Shelley's contract.

Sure, he is not quite the hockey player and can't play the same minutes, but after getting Leino, you don't need Carcillo as much on the third. Shelley fills much the same role as Carcillo otherwise and is more disciplined about it. With Cal Clutterbuck getting 1.4 per, and Carcillo coming off the season he is, I think it is pretty likely that he was always getting his money this season. Especially considering that he has arbitration rights. One could say that you get the same truculence taken care off, now with more size, in Shelley. He is also a better fighter than the sad excuse of a player/fighter Cote, so you can finally put him to pasture.

So now we're basically saying goodbye to Carcillo and Gagne because Holmgren's a ****ing idiot. I love our forward depth.

Carcillo just purchased his ticket out of town at some point. If Shooter caves in, he will, and pays him 1.5mm that is comical. Then again when you give Shelley 1.2 Carcillos agent has a lot of ammo to use for Carcillo getting 1.5

I kind of feel bad because we're all going to end up hating Shelley, it's not his fault he basically won the lottery by getting to negotiate with a retard.

I won't hate him because of the contract. I'll hate him because he sucks.

I will always hate Holmgren for the contract. Two separate issues in my mind.

Does the $1.5 million he wants factor in the 5 or so games he'll miss due to suspension?

Apparently Shelley is an awesome locker room guy. I mean, if we signed him for 600K or whatever to be our 13th forward, I'd be annoyed by it, but I wouldn't really be upset. The fact that he's making 1.1 million and might play 3rd line for us is what gets me pissed, but that's not his fault.

Danny, not a smart move with a tight cap.

Welcome aboard Shelley. See you Danny.

I would've much rather signed John Scott on a "Cote like" contract. The Jody Shelley deal is beyond ****ed.

And with what money does Carcillo think we are going to pay him with?

We have around 1 mil of capspace.... not including Cote.

So peace out Carcillo
