i think that 2nd line will all put up 40-50 points
dubinsky and prospal will put up 50-60 points and gaborik will put up 80+ points
we only had 3 players get more than 40 points last season
last year the rangers backup goalies combined for a 3-6-1 record ... i think biron will improve that to a 5-5 record
with anisimov and dubinsky both improving their totals form the previous season and the acquisition of mza ... we will have 5 legitimate top 6 players but only one legitimate first line player ... thats what happens when you pay blair betts 2.0 7 million per season
i have faith in my blueshirts and i think we will make it to the playoffs this year. and from there.. who knows what can happen. look at what philly did
I hope and pray that Gilroy gets moved to the wing. He has no business on the blueline.
Sure he wasn't incredible for the 2009-2010 season, but come on, he was a rookie. Albeit MDZ made him look useless, MDZ had an exceptional rookie campaign. And not for nothing Gilroy was paired with Redden... That's not exactly what I'd call a position to succeed.

the only difference is Philly was the favorite before the season even started.

the team is a middle of the road club. They still lack a true centerman. Since they dont grow on trees one can expect them to muddle through somehow on most nights.
I think with a Tom Renney type coach they are a marginal playoff calibre team. Aiming to keep the puck out of the net and rely on Henke to control rebounds would result in more point but less entertainment.
With Torts I think they miss the playoffs again as the team just doesn't have the horses to run and gun out enough points over 82 games.
The kids improve but the rest of the East looks like they will improve more than NY will.
on a slightly different note
Anisimov with Callahan and Avery would make a nice 3rd line
We look the same on paper except all of our young players are more experienced and a year stronger. The team we saw in the beginning and the end of last season wasn't a team on a hot streak, it was a team playing consistently how they should play.
I, for one, would love to see this team epicly fail this upcoming season. I know that this isn't the most popular sentiment but I feel as though we aren't going to do anything significant this season anyway. We have done nothing to make ourselves better while the majority of teams in our division and conference have gotten better. How are we supposed to compete with them? We overly rely on two or three players to help us win games. What happens if one of them goes down with an injury (cause we all know Gaborik is due )? I know Lundqvist will play his heart out but he deserves a better team than this. I hope none of our prospects make the team this year because I feel they will be better served playing in the AHL, college, minors, etc. this year. Even if that means having Wade Effing Redden on our team for another effing year. This is only my opinion of how our 2010-2011 season should proceed and I think it is a lost year.

I absolutely agree and share the same sentiment except for the bolded parts. There's no need to rush the kids and we'll be fighting the Islanders for the basement in the division solely on the basis that the Flyers, Devils, and Penguins all improved this offseason.
However, what kind of fan are you to actually WANT to see the team lose? Just because I'm pessimistic about this upcoming season doesn't mean I'll be rooting like hell for them to do well regardless.
I feel that Redden has one more year. If he doesn't improve in comparison from the past two seasons, he's out on his ass and will have a one way ticket to Hartford stamped for him. I'm betting on the latter happening though.
I'm not going to provide input b/c im praying we're not done.
However, as currently structured there's a very good chance we don't make the playoffs. I'd say around the 8-10th seed.
Way too many holes, lack of depth, and individuals playing out of position.
I'm saying 8th-10th as well. There are too many good parts to the team for it to really sniff the lottery. I know we were close last year, but this team will win in clusters and keep us on the cusp of a playoff berth.
No, it was not a waste to sign Christianson. At his price, Christianson is a good depth player.
If he plays with Gabby all season, this guy will put up 50 points, say 18 goals and 32 assists.
Christianson plays both center and the wing. At some point when Stepan shows he is ready for the NHL, Christianson will be a good depth player or at his bargain price will be easy to move for a mid round pick. Giving Christianson the contract was a no brainer.
Signing Prospal was a waste because I believe he is damaged goods.

The only reason that I want to see the Rangers epicly fail is so that Dolan can realize that there are many things wrong with this team and it does not deserve to compete for a playoff spot. Maybe this will lead to the firing of Sather. Maybe Dolan will actually start to care about this team once he sees that he won't make the maximum amount of revenue he can make. I don't know. I can only hope for the day where Dolan is not our owner and Sather is not our GM because I believe that neither the Rangers, nor the Knicks for that matter, will win a championship as long as Dolan is the owner. This is only my opinion.
Drury Renaissance ? I sure hope so, but I'll believe it when I see it.
I just think he is incapable of doing things like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpx3z36vC4E) again, and thats what hell need to do on this team to get his offensive numbers back.

I don't think he's capable of that at all. He barely was in his hay-day. Drury isn't a finesse-player, he's not a passer, and he's not an overachiever on offense whatsoever.
Simply is a hard worker. And hard workers produce results. That's not to deny that he hasn't got a great shot, when it.... you know...actually hits the net.
Dont expect to compete for The Cup...but we are much better and tougher than we were at the start of last season. PO this season .... one more year of exp. for the kids and a new batch of prospects in the pipeline. Looking forward to this season.
Hey! What are the odds that Dale Weise make your team sometime next year?
i doubt Weise makes it as a full time nhl player this year, remember, the rangers usually give the player a few games before the player makes it as a full time NHLer, but i think Byers makes the team but for some reason Byers doesnt make the team or get hurt in camp then Weise has a great chance...
