ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday the club has signed goaltender Jaroslav Halak (Yahr-roh-slav, HAH-lak) to a four-year contract.
Very interested to see the numbers...

Still wouldn't have signed him to a contract like that in Montreal!

More Halak: $3.75M average cap hit. $2.75 M next season, $3.50 M in 11-12, $4.25 M in 12-13 and $4.50 M in 13-14.
Taken from LeBrun's twitter. Good deal for both.

That is lower than I thought he would get. It probably goes up to 4.25 in Mtl.

Pretty sweet for both sides.

So pretty much where people predicted it. Probably would have been a little higher had he signed here because of the taxes.

Definitely.

Wonder how much Gomez gets off his contract a year? 44% or so?

Cap hit is decent, but he better perform especially in the 2last years of his contract.

I don't know guys, that really seems like a LOT of money and a LOT of term for a guy who basically strang together a good half season and has yet to show he can last a full year of NHL duties.

Hopefully with Halak as a guage, we can get Price signed and move on. Looks like Price should be getting a smaller contract than previously expected due to the smaller number Halak got. Maybe in the $2-3M range for a multi year contract.

Look for Price to be signed shortly. This puts things into perspective as to how much Price will make.

Price will make probably 1.5 million/year for two-three years.

I think he'll be a solid goalie for them. I don't believe he'll be as incredible as our playoff run, it'd be extremely hard to live up to those expectations, but I think he's well worth the money considering they need a solid goalie.

Halak is a very good goaltender that's for sure. He hasn't had the work load at the nhl to show true consistency, by that I mean that he hasn't shown much, but there;s not doubt he will be really successful because he plays hard and is always focused.

I disagree with saying this is an overpayment

Cristobol Huet is not an overpayment at almost 5 mill a year?

Good for you Halak, best of luck in St. Louis

Good contract for the Habs as well. Price can't really demand as much.
Montreal may be able to lock up Price for 5 years at 15 million at a cap hit of 3M / Year.
