Dregger didnt twitter that, Rishaug did. And he was speculating.

With Smyth LA has 8 forwards signed for next year. They have Handzus then the next oldest forward is Stoll. They are a rebuilding team as well. I think for what each player brings LA is better off with Smyth. We would probably have to add a forward to make this trade.

Why would LA do this? Doesn't make sense.

Doesn't LA have enough cap space that they could have taken Souray without giving anything up if they really wanted him?

ouor old friend Nylander is on waivers again. I wonder if a deal like him and Chimera for Souray could work?

We buy out Nylander and get a decent but expesive 3rd / 4th liner in Chimera. Nylander's buyout is 2.8 this year and 1 mill next year so it would not hurt us.

I'd do both of those, but would Chi or NY?

Include Chorney too, to sweeten the pot, mildly.

If I were Tambi I would be all over Moore. My top 4 lines to start the season would be:

Hall - Horcroff - Hemsky
Penner - Gagner - Brule
Jones - Moore - Eberle
Omark - Fraser - Stortini

Moore and Fraser would greatly assist Horcroff's heavy lifting on defensive responsibility and allow him to play a more focused offensive role.

Obviously, there is no Cogliano listed there - I'd be looking to move him, perhaps with Souray, and I'd be asking for a good, young, capable goalie. Someone like Josh Harding. If not, a top 4 D.

I would like the look of that team starting the season with MPS pushing for a spot by mid season if not sooner.

No more "TWEENERS", Moves that add Competitiveness + Toughness

1. EDM + LAK

To LAK: Andrew Cogliano, Chris Vandevelde

To Edmonton: Wayne Simmonds

The Oilers get a tough 3rd line winger that can pot goals ala Mike Grier when he was in Edmonton. He's a fan favourite in LA (also my favourite player) so we have to add a blue chipper and I believe that Vande Valde would be the most expendable asset. He has top 6 upside and has a great chance to be an NHL'er/

2. EDM + ATL

To ATL: Sam Gagner

To Edmonton: Evander Kane

Lowe loved Kane at his draft and did everything he could to move up. Kane is physically imposing and the type of centre the Oilers need.

Atlanta gets a second line center that will be a great 1-2 punch along with Bryan Little for years to come.

3. EDM + NYI

To NYI: Dustin Penner, Linus Omark, 2011 2nd round pick

To EDM: Kyle Okposo

Edmonton gets a 2nd line 20 goal scorer that plays aggressive and physical. He's young enough to be part of the youth movement.

NYI loves big power players and they get the enigma Dustin Penner. He would be a great compliment for Tavares. Also, they're trying for a youth movement and they don't have the size issues that the Oilers have. They would entertain a move that would include a guy like Omark.

Let's be honest here guys, with all the smaller players we have, we have no room for Omark no matter how talented he is.

4. EDM + NYR

To NYR: Sheldon Souray

To Edmonton: Michal Rosival & Brian Boyle

The salary in this trade almost matches. Boyle adds size (6'7 252 lbs) and Rosival and Smid would be a match made in heaven. Why would NYR do this? I can't really say. I just hope Sather gets liquored up and does it.

NEW OILERS

Hall Horcoff Hemsky (this line sells itself)
MPS Kane Okposo (all of them extremely competitive)
Simmonds Avery Brule (gritty with talent - energy line)
Stortini Fraser Eberle (checking line)
Giroux, Jacques

Whitney Gilbert
Smid Fistric (shutdown pair)
Foster Vandermeer
Strudwick, Belle

Love this new lineup.

Problem is Simmonds is Lombardi's golden boy, Gagner =/= Kane, and Okposo along with Bailey and Tavares are the future in NYI.

Value is almost there in some cases but just won't happen.

Atlanta won't trade Kane. No racism intended, but they seem to be stackin up on bros, and it serves as good marketing, plus he's a high skilled player, no way Gags can land him.

As well Avery isn't with the Stars....

LA wouldn't do the first trade, they are absolutely loathed to the idea of trading Bruce Wayne.

If Atlanta wrote off Kane after one year, they are the dumbest franchise in the league. I would do the trade, even though I'm high on Gagner.

If New York did that, they're management would be crucified on the streets of Uniondale with participation from random bystanders.

I doubt we get that much back for Souray, and last I checked Avery was in NYC.

Rangers picked him up on recall-able waivers, so the Stars have to pick up part of his salary.

How? Explain the EDM + ATL trade. How do they downgrade? Evander Kane had 14 goals and 12 assists last year? Sam Gagner has flirted with 50 points every years he's been in the NHL and he's just as young.

Gagner is the better scorer of the 2, but all i'm saying is Kane is closer to the player that the Oilers need. Atlanta has physicality... and they need scoring. Oilers need toughness and that's something Sam will never have.

Or even the Souray trade? The Stars dump a player they dont even want and is set to make $4.0 million for Sean Avery and get an all star dman when healthy. It's win-win.

EDIT, I will fix the Souray trade

While we are at it, maybe we could send Eberle to Pittsburgh for Malkin and a 2nd?

Gilbert for Doughty?

4. EDM + DAL

To Dallas: Sheldon Souray

To Edmonton: Mark Fistric, Sean Avery

The salary in this trade almost matches. I know you all hate Avery, but he's the type of guy people hate playing against and he would be stellar on the bottom 2 lines. Fistric can be Jason Smith II.

Love this new lineup.

I gotot Avery in Dallas and then realized how little interest in logic there was

- Simmonds won't go for Cogliano +.

- As stated earlier Kane = Gagner.

- I honestly think that's too much for Okposo (and the isles wouldn't really want to give him up either, I'm sure.)

- Avery plays in NY... not that I'd want him anywhere near Edmonton, I mean, I like his game, but the antics are just too much.

Sorry. I'd give something more constructive, but I'm just downright awful at proposing trades.
