Zajac to Toronto.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what it would take to pry Zajac out of NJ. I know they need a puck mover so of course Tomas Kaberle would be the starting point. Kaberle for Zajac one for one is probably not going to happen so what would the + have to be coming from Toronto? I know that NJ is preparing for life after MB and Toronto has a glut of goaltending prospects. Try to stay away from Kadri, Schenn, Kessel, Phaneuf though because it wouldn't happen. Also, Toronto is open to taking a salary dump but if that dump is Brian Rolston we would need a decent pick (1st 2012 maybe?) to compensate.

Looking forward to your opinions,

It's just not happening man. He's our only center and we're not going to replace him with Jason Arnott. The only way Zajac is moved in the next few years is for another center. Right now, Josefson isn't even ready to pivot a 2nd line.

And if your not willing to give up Kessel, your not getting Zajac.

Untouchable, unless a notably better center was coming back.

Zajac is their 1st line center. NJ won't move him unless they receive a better or atleast equivalent center in return, since Toronto don't have a real top 6 center even if the value was right the Devils couldn't do the deal.

Please don't mention Grabovski in this thread...

we don't have a #1 center a trade around zajac is virtually impossible.

Of course he isn't a first liner and i'm sure you're tired of hearing his name but what about something like...

Kaberle
Grabovski
Reimer

Zajac
Rolston

this is a base and not a final product.

Probably something like Blacker and a 6th round pick since Boston's got dibs on the Leafs 5th round pick and Hanson for Savard.

New Jersey is in win now mode. Toronto does not have a center good enough along with other pieces to make a trade happen.

That leaves Jason Arnott as the Devils' only center. No thanks.

Not to mention the cap implications.

Looking forward to your opinions,
Back to back 60 point seasons, twice top 7 in selke voting, 6'3, and 25 years old. And you want him for Kaberle+ but are unwilling to give up your four of your five most valuable assets. Hate to rain on your parade, but the thing that wouldn't happen is a contending team run by Lou trading away its first line center for one year of Kaberle and the opportunity to dump a roster player.

If you offered Kaberle, Kadri, and took Rolston, they would still say no. Zajac is more important to the that team than Kaberle and dumping Rolston. Kadri doesn't make up the difference.

Nope. Any proposal Toronto makes for Zajac will be turned down. Not that your not offering valuable players but none of them are 1st line centers and we'd open a gaping hole trading Zajac. It's just not happening.

And to the Kessel, Komisarek, and Kaberle proposal, we can't take on more then $15 million in contracts.

With this trade, NJ's primary need would become a #1C.

Once again, I was kidding...

If you want a legitimate Leafs - Devils proposal:

To NJ: Kaberle

To TOR: Rolston, Corrente, 2011 first.

How does it make sense that Tor takes on a salary dump?

why? because the question was answered and probably doesnt need further discussion? we both know that eventually somebody is going to come turn this into a leaf bash fest. If people want to use the thread for off topic proposals theres a Toronto New Jersey proposal thread already open.

I like it! Rolston is still a 20 goal man even without a defined role in NJ. He would be great with Steeger and Kadri/Bozak eventhough he is a little overpaid. Corrente is a good prospect but a little small for our already small top six. Would NJ be interested in switching Corrente for Josefson and perhaps switching the 2011 1st with a 2012?
