Fontaine was one of the stars of the Bulldogs team last season - he either lead or came close to leading the team in goals and points.

Without looking it up because I'm lazy, but isn't he a smaller guy?

No, I think that's one of the Connollys.
EDIT: Fontaine is 5'11" 175lbs according to USCHO (he also was first in goals and second in points last season). I'm going to say that's not not ridiculously small just for the fact that's essentially my size.

I'll be posting as many prospect profiles I can before the developmental camp starts. So to start it off, I'll introduce Dennis Endras, our most recent signee!

Wild Profiles: Dennis Endras

The Wild have recently signed german goaltender Dennis Endras to a one-year, two-way contract. Endras is a 24-year old, 6'0" 168lbs goaltender from Immenstadt, Germany. Undrafted by the NHL, he impressed so much during the World Championships that it was believed that at least three NHL teams contacted his agent to see if North America was a possibility. In the end, it was the Minnesota Wild that ended up with Endras after Director of Professional Scouting Blair Mackasey saw him in the 2010 IIHF World Championships.

Key Stats 09-10
Augsburger Panthers Regular Season 52Games 3.28GAA 0.905Svs%
Augsburger Panthers Playoffs 14Games 2.36GAA 0.937Svs%
WC Germany 6Games 1.15GAA 0.961Svs%

What He Did
During the regular season, he led his team, Augsburger Panthers, to the finals. A season before, the team lost in the preliminary round, and the three previous seasons before that, they did not make the playoffs, so Endras helped the Panthers achieve a great deal. After leading the team to the finals, he took on the international stage, where played for Germany at the World Championships and given numerous awards: WC All-Star Team, WC Best GAA, WC Best Goaltender, WC Best SVS%, WC MVP, WC Top 3 Player on Team. I'm not exactly sure but that sounds like every single award a goaltender can get...

Scouts Comments
Wild Director of Professional Scouting Blair Mackasey
"Dennis is very athletic and competitive. He had an outstanding season last
year, and we're excited to land him. Right now, he gives us depth at the
goaltender position and in time, he should develop into a starting NHL goalie."

Eliteprospects.com
Gives up very few rebounds. Quick goalie. A smallish keeper with an unusual
style. Has great reflexes and is good at covering the angles for the shooters.
Mentally strong with the ability to stay calm under pressure. Very skilled in
one on ones, which makes him excellent in shootouts. (Matias Strozyk)

Future
Endras is signed in Germany with the Panthers for one more season so he will most probably not be with Houston Aeros for the 2010-11 season. However, once his contract is up, it isn't wishful thinking to believe Endras will join the Aeros and challenge for the starting job, much like Niklas Backstrom was expected to do when he was first signed with the Wild. He will be attending this years developmental camp where the Wild's prospects will gather together for orientation about the pro hockey life in the NHL.

Rest of the profiles are on my blog. I'll be updating it every time I do a different profile, which is going on rapid mode since camp is only 4 days...

Wild Profiles: JT Barnett

J.T Barnett, the son of Michael Barnett, is a 17-year old forward who plays for the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. He was hoping to be drafted in the 2010 Entry Draft, but that was not the case. He started the year strong for the first 3 months but would go cold for the rest of the season. While he was not drafted, he is not new to the life of professional hockey, as his dad served as the Coyotes GM from 2000 to 2007. He was also the long time agent of Wayne Gretzky and currently serves as advisor to the New York Rangers president. JT be one of the few tryout invitees to the Minnesota Wild Developmental Camp, in which it will feature the Wilds draft picks such as Marco Scandella and Brett Bulmer.

Key Stats 09-10
Vancouver Giants (WHL) Regular Season 71Games 21Goals 17Assists 42PIM +3
Vancouver Giants (WHL) Playoffs 7Games 3Assists 3Points 0+/-

What He Did
In Barnett's first 28 games this season, Barnett scored 13 goals and 11 assists. However, in the following 43 games, he only scored 8 goals and 6 assists. However, he did improve from his rookie year of 5 points in 38 games.

Scouts Comments
nhldraftnotes.blogspot.com
Decent hockey sense and can shoot the puck from the slot pretty well. But was invisible for long stretches of games whenever I saw him. Could go late.

J.T Barrnett
I think my speed, size, and strength on the puck are my strong points. I've gained 10 pounds and worked on my core strength over the summer. I'm now 6-feet and 195 pounds and I want to take the puck strong to the net as well as protecting it and not being easily knocked off of it. I'm not afraid to go to the net and take the punishment to make a play. Things I would like to work on, well, I would like to work on my shot as far as velocity and also getting it off quicker.

Future
I am quite confused about the rules as I stated before. I always though kids from ages 17-19 must be drafted before signed but the Wild signed Krupp last season as a 17-year old. Under my own thinking, I would have said that Barnett would take what he learned during camp and apply it into his season with the Giants so he can work on being drafted next year, but with my doubts on the system, he might just impress the Wild staff and get signed like Krupp.

Wild Profiles: Brandon Buck

Already somewhat familiar with the Wild organization, Brandon Buck played 21 games with the Houston Aeros, the Wild's AHL affiliate. Signed by the Aeros, he played most of the season with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. While the Everblades are not an affiliate with either the Wild or Aeros, coach Malcolm Cameron has ties to the franchise when he coached the Texas Wildcatters, the former ECHL affiliate to the Wild organization.

Undrafted by any NHL team, Brandon Buck graduated from the OHL after playing three seasons with the Guelph Storm. His first pro contract was with the Aeros and he has not disappointed.

Key Stats 09-10
Florida Everblades Regular Season 47Games 18Goals 21Assists 22PIM 0+/-
Florida Everblades Playoffs 9Games 2Goals 2Assists 4PIM
Houston Aeros Regular Season 21Games 3Assists 3Points 4PIM -2

What He Did
As one of the youngest forwards in the league, Buck started the season very well with 18 points in hi first 27 games. He also finished the season off with 19 points in 17 games. He was named to the ECHL All-Star team as a rookie. He explained "Up in Houston I play a lot different role than I play here. I'm more of an energy player when I'm there and here I'm one of the top line guys and I'm counted on in the power-play and stuff like that."

Scouts Comments
Ernie Hartlieb, Florida Everblades Forward

He's one of the youngest guys in the league but he's also one of the fastest. He's got quick hands and he's got great moves. He's going to be a really good hockey player. Obviously he probably wants to be up in the AHL right now but he's getting a lot of ice time and getting a chance to do some things I don't think he'd be able to at the next level.

Malcom Cameron, Everblades Head Coach

Brandon has scored some pretty highlight reel goals and he's a pretty good producer and he’s elevated his game defensively. He's got NHL size and NHL speed and a really good shot, he just needs to refine his game a little bit.

Future
Buck missed his chance to impress last season when he was injured, missing both the Wild and the Aeros training camps. Still, the Aeros picked him up and sent him down to the Everblades to develop and he has not disappointed. He'll get his shot to impress in hopes of making the Aero's roster this season, especially with an All-Star game as a first year rookie now in his resume.

Wild Profiles: Darian Dziurzynski

Darian Dziurzynski. Name alone should warrant an invite by the Minnesota Wild who have the coolest names in the league (referring to Clutterbuck and Stoner). Dziurzynski is a 19 year old left wing from Lloydminster, Alberta. He currently plays for the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL and is known for his feistiness on the ice.

The 6'0" 210lbs forward is currently undrafted and will get his chance to finally impress an NHL team when he attends the Minnesota Wild developmental camp.

Key Stats 09-10
Saskatoon Blades Regular Season 70Games 14Goals 15Assists 156PIM -1
Saskatoon Blades Playoffs 7Games 3Goals 6Assists 9PIM

What He Did
Known for his energy, Dziurzynski can also put on the points as well as penalty minutes. He started the season slow with 6 points in 36 games, but then he caught on fire for the months of January and February, scoring 22 points in 25 games. He again cooled off with 1 point in 9 games but once again got hot during the playoffs with 9 points in 7 playoff games.

Scouts Comments
Blades coach-GM Lourne Mollekan

I've talked to a few teams about him and certainly he's deserving of it because of the way he played this past year. He plays for keeps. He's an intense player and there's nothing soft about his game. He's physical, he takes the puck to the net and does what he has to do to succeed.

hockeyfights.com - HordiBrusk29

Another player I love to watch and I like the way he plays the game. I think he's a better player than most of the above mentioned guys (e.g Josh Caron, Randy McNaught), plus he's usually willing to go. Not a heavyweight by any stretch but a tougher hard working middleweight type of player.

Future
Like I mentioned in a few articles, I am unsure about the rule about signing juniors players but Dziurzynski sounds like the type of young player that GM Chuck Fletcher has interest in: an energetic player that can skate, contribute offensively and mix it up physically. He will get a good look by the Wild staff during developmental camp

That's awesome work there CT. Love reading about them. I can't wait to hear how the prospects look in the camp, but it's too bad that Granlund isn't going to be there.

I'll try to make it and provide my novice scouting summaries on as many as I can like I did last year. Too bad I'm no longer a season ticket holder =(, then I could have gotten two days worth.

Well would you look at that... during this hellish time where U have to work 16 out of the next 18 days... the open scrimmage on the 18th happens to fall on one of my only 2 days off work. I think I'll have to go to that.

I see Joel Broda is on the list, he had pretty good stats last year for the Hitmen, anyone wonder if we'll give him a contract?

I believe he just signed a contract with a German team.

I'll be at the 7/17 scrimmage, so I'll make some notes.

Here's how I answered that same question on Ninja's board...

Not a surprise Granlunds not there. They said he had been back and forth across the pond so much the past 2 months that they would leave it up to him if he wanted to come back for development camp or not. They said it all depended on how he felt, they thought the stress of all the travel he's had to do might have worn on him. Obviously it may have since he chose skip it this year.

I'm sure you can fully expect he will be there next year.
