2010-2011 Florida Panthers Prospect Poll #1

General poll for our prospects. Seeing as there is no Panthers HF Writer, we can just use our forum as a sounding board to create a consensus ranking of our prospects. The final list will be comprised of the top 20 prospects followed by 3 honorable mentions. The nature of the poll is there are 10 prospects to select from and you can post who should be added to the next poll.

Used the following requirements for prospect qualification:
1) Under 25 years old
2) Played in less than 50 NHL games in career
3) No more than 41 games in a single season.

List of remaining prospects:

Joe Basaraba - RW
Josh Birkholz - RW
RJ Boyd - D
Connor Brickley - C
Sam Brittain - G
Brady Calla - RW
Michael Caruso - D
Marc Cheverie - G
Adam Comrie - D
Evgeni Dadonov - RW
Joonas Donskoi - RW
Mike Duco - LW
Corey Durocher - LW
Brian Foster - G
Benjamin Gallacher - D
Sergei Gayduchenko - G
Jordan Henry - D
Zachary Hyman - RW
AJ Jenks - LW
Corban Knight - C
Derrick Lapoint - D
John Lee - D
John McFarland - C
Alexander Petrovic - D
Tyler Plante - G
Alexander Salak - G
Drew Shore - C
Scott Timmins - C
Garrett Wilson - LW

**If I have missed a qualified prospect, feel free to post below**

My vote for next prospect to be added: John McFarland - C

When voting, please request an additional prospect to be added to the next poll.

I'm going with Markstrom as our #1 prospect. He's the best goaltending prospect in the world and has proven himself in the SEL.

Gudbranson should go #2 (assuming Markstrom wins this poll) but after that, it will be interesting to see people's opinions on the next tier of prospects.

Please add McFarland or Shore to the next poll.

Markstrom
Gudbranson
Grabner
Bjugstad
Repik
Robak
Howden
McFarland
Dadonov
Salak
Doonskoi
Petrovic
McArdle
Ellerby
Jenks
Timmins
Duco
Comrie
Gayduchenko

Garrison is no longer a prospect. The rest don't have NHL potential. This is a quick list so I may have looked someone over, though.

I must say our prospect pool is starting to look really good. No mega-high end stars after Markstrom, but definite talent and depth all-around.

For purposes of this thread Garrison will be included. He played less than 50 Games in his career(less than 41 last year) and is 25.

You forgot Garrett Wilson/Connor Brickley too as far as NHL potential.

I think Drew Shore should be somewhere in the top 10. He may be somewhat forgotten after the draft we just had this year, but he is a year older than those prospects and had a good year in college hockey.

Our top 10 is disgusting. Even if Shore was good last season, he's probably at best #11 or 12 IMO. I still think Salak is a solid prospect and Dadonov is very skilled as well so they have to be above him.

Gotta disagree with you because guys like Brickley, Cheverie, Wilson, LaPoint, etc... certainly have NHL potential. Cheverie IMO is a better goaltending prospect than Gayduchenko at this point. The rest of the list looks pretty solid but I don't think Timmins belongs in the top 20 yet. He was an over-ager in the OHL IIRC and they're expected to put up points. He has potential but we'll see how he transitions over to the pro game.

Markstrom is the obvious choice here but its a process. I can't just arbitrarily put him at the top and start at 2 (or 3 for that matter with Gudbranson being the 2nd best). Who's to say I wouldn't just make a list myself and post it. The whole point is to come to a consensus.

Be patient, the interesting picks will come.

First I was like.. Just give Markstrom the nod straight away.. Then I remembered my man crush Guds! So I voted Gods!

Had Markstrom been in this draft would he had gone 3rd overall?

If Markstrom had been available in the 2010 draft, i'd have taken him at #3. His upside is just better than Gudbranson and he has proven much more to date. Though ironically, Gudbranson is probably the safer prospect by virtue of the position he plays - you never ever know with goaltending.

McArdle shouldn't be on this list. McFarland etc are better prospects than McArdle. Would McArdle have fetched a 2nd round pick in an NHL entry draft (33rd > McFarland in value technically because it offers options but still)? McArdle wouldn't fetch anything more than a 5th or 6th rounder at this point.

Add McFarland or Shore.

I forgot Shore, Wilson, Cheverie and Brickley on my list. I don't think any of them are top 10, though. I'd probably space them out between Dadonov and Comrie.

Also, TimHortons, let's just start #3. We all know that Markstrom is #1 and Gudbranson is #2 at this point.

OK guys it looks like Markstrom may take this one.

My original thinking for time length of the poll would be two days or 50 votes but I'd say this will suffice. Good participation so far!

I'll have the second one up shortly. Mods feel free to lock this one up.

Glad someone did this for our prospects, good job TH.

I voted for Markstrom obviously. He seems to be the apparent #1.

Everything looks good but we really need that elite offensive player. Hopefully someone surprises.

Agreed. That's the only thing missing. We have a lot of potential 2nd line players, but we need that offensive stud.
