Cool I was the guy wearing the Thrashers Jersey. Anyway is it just me or does our color scheme look a lot like the Oilers / OKC Oil Barons.

Why not just Warriors!?

Drop the Road part and its a nice logo, (Oilers) colors, and root name. Road Warriors reminds me of minor league baseball teams when they don't have a home field leagues usually call them the Road Warriors.

Road Warrior was a brand of street hockey equipment in the 90's. At least it is a better name than GRRROOOOWWWLL

They should drop the Road in their name. Warriors is much better than Road Warriors. Are they too proud of the Mel Gibson flick?

The icon is okay. I have no problems with the icon with the name Warriors...

Whether an owner or a fan contest picks the name, HALF won't like the result...

I really hope the drop road. A quick check of social media websites says more than half don't like the result. Most saying the same thing as us- drop "road." Al ot are aso saying whoever won the name the team contest is a idiot!! (personally I'd add the Road Warriors' front office staff to the idiot list too for approving that name!

The "Road" part is probably a reference to the BMW plant in Greenville-Spartanburg area (in Greer, SC), which was also the inspiration of the name of Greenville's minor league baseball team, the low-A Greenville Drive, a Boston Red Sox affiliate.

Dean Stork Named Head Coach Of Greenville Road Warriors

http://www.echl.com/cgi-bin/mpublic....cat=1&id=22285

Quote:
GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that former Cincinnati Cyclones Assistant Coach, Dean Stork, has been hired as the team’s head coach. Stork was introduced at a press conference, held at the BI-LO Center, earlier today.

“Dean Stork has all the qualities that separate great coaches from the rest. He is driven, passionate, knowledgeable and possesses an outstanding work ethic. With two Kelly Cup championships in the last three seasons, Dean clearly understands what it takes to win. He is a great addition to our organization,” said Road Warriors President and General Manager Neil Smith.

Stork, 34, turned to coaching in June of 2006 after a seven-year professional career. From 1999 to 2006 Stork played in 441 ECHL games and produced 137 points (32G, 105A) along with 485 penalty minutes.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Sports Management, Stork played three seasons for the Minutemen. His career there spanned 101 games and produced 13 goals, 17 assists and 164 penalty minutes. At the time of his graduation in 1999 he held the school record for goals in a season by a defenseman at nine. Dean also excelled in the classroom and was a member of the Hockey East Honor Roll Squad. After college he signed a three-year contract with the Washington Capitals
