I can't possibly see us trading Gagne to Toronto, especially for Kaberle. It just doesn't make sense. It would almost certainly mean we'd then be looking to make another move.

A defense of Pronger-Carle, Timonen-Coburn, Meszaros-Kaberle would be pretty hilarious. All three of those would be a top pairing on most teams. Probably not the best way to spend your money though.

LeBrun probably texted Gagne when he was trying to sleep.

Agreed, but do half the moves Holmgren makes...do they make sense?

I'd imagine that Carle/Coburn would be involved, for obvious reasons. I have no interest in Kaberle, but I know the front office was close to acquiring him a few years ago and the same people are still employed with the team. Plus, Burke is looking for scoring...so who knows. I think it would be dumb, and it would piss me off, but I can't say I'd be shocked if I saw it happen.

Paul Homlgren -- expect the unexpected.

Kaberle? Really? If Carle or Coburn goes does that mean Bozak or Kadri is coming back? Because that is the only way I'd be ok with that.

New plan, Let's trick the Habs into a deal that puts them closer to the cap with Gagne and then sneak a offer sheet for Price. Crazy? Defintely. Would it ever happen? No.

Don't you have to have draft picks?

We have our 1st and 3rd next year correct?

"1st and 3rd round picks for offer sheets with a value between $3,091,963 and $4,637,944"

It could be done.

Here is is...
Quote:
Pronger and prospect Ryan Dingle went from the Anaheim Ducks to Philadelphia for forward Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Luca Sbisa, first-round picks in 2009 and 2010 and a conditional third-round pick in 2010 or 2011.

so we still have the 2011 3rd.
I am guessing the condition is if the Flyers won the Ducks would have their choice of 2010 or 2011 3rd round picks.
****in Holmgren not making the 2010 1st conditional

Well, he was competing against himself so he had to sweeten the deal or else the other Philadelphia Flyers would have gotten Pronger.

Thank God they didn't get them. That Mike Richards is a dirty ****ing head hunter. So overrated.

What is a realistic return we could see from Gagne?

Agent for Simon Gagne tells ESPN.com he's been given permission by Flyers to talk directly to teams but so far there's no deal...
Who knows... who knows if he'll even go anywhere. I just can't see Holmgren actually waiving him, maybe he'll wake up and just move one of the D.

Gagne-Richards-Zherdev
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
JVR-Carter-Giroux
Carcillo-Betts-Lappy
Shelley (who should be waived for Powe)

Pronger-Meszaros
Timonen-Coburn/Carle
O'Donnell-Bartulis

Be prepared to make a deadline move for another D if found necessary (likely will be for depth if nothing else), or possibly upgrade in net.

would powe be worth a mid or late round pick to anyone? i agree that he should be our 13th F over shelley, but it doesn't look like that will be the case.

i dont think powe has to clear waivers to go down im not 100% on that. so hes still there in a utility role.

id waive carle or hartnell before id accept some of these offers for gagne its just ridiculous on the trade boards

say goodbye to the 2011 1st rounder at the deadline. Sad we have to have a clown like Shelley around at the expense of a usefull player like Powe. We all know how holmgren views high draft picks
