This... I don't like...

Hopefully it means Brown and Carter are replaced with Moen/Pahlsson/Rob kind of players. The kind that are able to put up 20-25 points and throws their body around. Apart from Marchant, our whole bottom six has been 10-14 point forwards since we lost our checking line.

I'd be surprised if he cleared, so good luck with your next team Ryan.

I'm probably the only ducks fan on this board that agrees with this.

Is he worth picking up? he has decent stats for a 4th line center man. Seems to be good on the dot, and also likes to hit.

He is a decent 4th line center. I expect the Leafs to make a claim.

No I never liked Carter but I do disagree that we could have traded him at the draft for a 5th or 6th rounder maybe.

Chip might hit 20 and Bodie might hit 15 next season. But there are far more reliable players to do it.

I'm talkinga about guys like Raffi Torres and Jere Lehtinen who are still available. Modano, Madden, Halpern, Belanger etc as well if Murray wants a center.

I think we might see a rookie take the spot. If not, I'd certainly not be opposed to any of the available options.

I don't like this at all. He has a pretty good shot and he was one of the few guys who played with any sack last season, he just never got a fair chance in the lineup.

Do you think Murray tried to trade Carter for a pick before he waived him? Of course he did. He is a GM in the NHL. Murray would have loved to acquire a pick for Carter (because he was planning on waiving him anyways), but it takes two to tango.

I don't understand this move. Carter makes next to nothing. There is no need to waive him unless he wanted out.

I would assume Murray already tried trading him for a late pick among teams that could have interest. He isn't exactly a player that is hard to replace, so I guess teams rather kept their late rounders and sign an UFA that can do the same job.

Agreed. Everytime he skated across the blueline he would instantly wristshot it on net. How smart can you be if you cant realize that you will never score on that and you just wasted a play. It was that lack of hockey sense that kept him from producing more and im glad hes gone.

Im with ya on this one, i didnt like Carter. And i disagree with everyone that thinks he was never given a chance. He was given plenty of chances, he just sucks.

Sucks. I had high hopes for him as he's one of my favs on the team. It feels like he wasn't given a fair chance on the club.

He's a dime a dozen player who isn't good at anything really. He's a well liked guy but that can't keep you in a lineup. He's been given what... 3 years on the roster? His time is done with this team. Maybe anoter team can do something with him.

Anyone else find it funny that the OC register blog runs a piece on Carter hours before he is waived?

I want to say he'll pass through waivers. I just don't really see teams being interested in him.

On the other hand, the Ducks must think he'll be claimed. Otherwise there's no point to waiving him. It's not like they waived him because they had to because they were going to send him to the minors.
