Boll re-signed, CBJ keeps their "No Arby" streak alive for now.

Cool, I'm glad it's for less than $2 million.

Because the Jackets don't have Glen Sather as their GM. Seriously, some ambitious and possibly overzealous NYR fan needs to kidnap Sather on July 1st and release him on the 5th each year to keep him from doing something mind numbingly stupid in free agency.

Fighters that ONLY fight should get 500-800K per year. Paying Shelly, Larouque & Brashear (not anymore), Boogaard etc more than 1M is just stupid. Godard is one of the better heavyweights in the league and gets 750. So for his 2 minutes a game he is still doing pretty good

Boll's not that great of a fighter, though. In reality, he's a young power forward who was thrust into the role of a fighter.

This is a good contract for both parties. It keeps Boll as a RFA when completed and is a fair value. Personally, I think Boll played a better game when given more responsibility. I thought he played quite well on the 3rd line and could handle 12-14 min per night if given the chance. He has a modicum of skill, will stick up for teammates, is a decent forechecker and is apparently good in the locker room. His biggest flaw, in my opinion, is his over zealous hit attempts. He tries for the big hit, usually misses rattling the glass and ends up out of position. If he continues to improve his discipline I think he could turn into a decent third liner. Certainly a "plus" 4th liner.

He seem more like a sandpaper type player through his career. He did have a bit of an offensive of game (prior to NHL) but i don't think he was projected to be a power forward.

Great signing for the jackets... at least they didn't let Philly/NYR effect the money they pay.
