If Hawks don't match then SJ 2011 3rd round pick for Murray
To who? The Hawks? You might as well disqualify yourselves from offers. No way they trade to improve an WC rival's situation. They're screwing you, not helping you.
Douglas Murray is more or so likely to be shipped out to the East unless West offers are that much better.
Good value for sj, I would do it in a heartbeat, but the reallity is that sj would have to to get rid of huskins and I don't think dw would. I don't think gilroy is gonna take demers spot. Realistically, I think he'll look for draft picks and a 3rd/4th line affordable energy checker.
His scoring is all there is to like. He lacks intangibles.
We could use a solid 3rd line winger (or C) who is great on the PK w/ a touch of scoring. More importantly is someone who can handle the checking line role. Good on the forecheck, cycles, etc.
Cap hit < $1.5m...Chimera would be ideal but too expensive.
Not an expert to the Sharks roster but i thought they wanted to add a top 4 dman and Murray was in their top 4 last year wasn't he? Meaning if they were to add Hjalmarsson and to trade Murray, all they would have done was upgrade their top 4 and did not add anyone? Hjalmarsson seems more like a replacement for Blake than an upgrade over Murray. Makes more sense to move Wallin but he has a NTC.
If he was on the market, there would be quite a few teams will to part with a 2nd/3rd round pick for him (i would expect teams such as CBJ to be interested).

I think you could ask most Sharks fans, and they would agree, Murray is a 5/6 defenseman and Hammer is a great upgrade. Hammer doesn't bring the offense that Blakey did. Wallin was just signed. The reason he was signed was a long story but I think DW was forced to. I'd totally be willing to throw away our 1st rounder next year along with Wallin.
He has been my favorite Shark to watch in the last couple of playoffs, amazing skater for a guy his size, big and physical, a very underrated defecenman. I would even argue he was your best dman in the playoffs.
I don't know what you guys are asking for but I would love to have him in the sens.

Sharks could/should still get another top 4 dman (knock on wood on Hammer) and Murray + others could be moved.
Sounds like your a CBJ fan. Could we trade Murray + for Hejda?
Though, I think if Sharks get Hammer, they'll get another PMD like Liles or Kaberle.
If the idea is that this is a guy whose salary is going to remain around the minimum, then yeah, that's not going to happen. He just scored 50 points. He won't be making $725K any more.
