You raised an excellent point about Schenn. He has a very long way to go to make the Kings roster in the fall. A lot of people here have him pegged for fourth line or even second line duties and frankly that could be unrealistic. I hope he makes it but his work is cut out for him.

i dont know too much about this kid. Aside from his brother being a shutdown D and he was drafted #5. I hear he's pretty much a younger version of Brown, correct me if im wrong.

Can someone tell me how well is he being developed? I would love to see him on the roster, although im not sure how much he could help our team.

You're wrong, he's not like Brown at all.

Schenn will be in LA and he will make an impact when he's fully mature.

I don't see that as being next season, but next year or 2 for sure.

IMO he could be another type of an impact 2-way 3rd line center like Jordan Staal if he doesn't make the grade as an NHL 2nd line center.

Man that video made my freaking day.

Yeah, dude's gonna be a beast when he's fully mature...but like the above poster said, even if he doesn't pan out offensively, he's certainly going to be a responsible player.

Define "pan out". If he doesn't become at least a solid #2, i'd consider him a flop. Since he was a top 5 pick.

Over the past three seasons in the WHL, Brayden Schenn's points per game average has increased dramatically

2007-08, Age 16: 1.08
2008-09, Age 17: 1.26
2009-10, Age 18: 1.68

I don't think he has anything left to prove in the WHL. He won't be facing any better competition at 19 in juniors. It is unfortunate that he has to wait until he turns 20 to play in the AHL as it would be far better served to have him advance to a more challenging level of competition.

Do you consider Jordan Staal a bust? He was drafted 2nd overall.

I think Schenn will be on the Kings next season.

Going back to the WHL isn't good for his development. Every player drafted in front of Schenn is already playing in the NHL.

If Schenn makes it next year then its time to trade Lewis or convert him to wing. He doesn't seem to have a place on this team, maybe i'm just being shortsighted.

He could be a solid 4th line center or winger... I'm not sold on hime either.

No, because he would be a #2 on almost every other team.

I think there's still room for Lewis. He'll be our 3rd or 4th line center once Stoll and/or Handzus is gone.

2011-2012:

There's the problem. Staying in juniors doesn't look like it will help him any, but is he actually ready for the NHL? Dean and Murray have to make the decision on which is better for his development, which sucks, because neither might be the ideal option, but he can't to the AHL so it's one or the other.

What's the reasoning behind the 20 years old AHL thing anyway? Guys can play in the NHL younger than that...

Should be a good one. Kind of reminds me of Brind'Amour. DL said he's got a little Mike Ricci to his game and some scouts have questioned his offensive upside at the pro level but I think he will be fine.

I remember watching the Vancouver/LA playoff series, doing while saying 'our first line'. Here's hoping for some first line talent. Can't see Edmonton trading Hemsky, and at this point I don't care where Kovy signs, I just want the discussion of him to be over.
