What is your off-ice training like?

DK: Most of my teammates here at North Dakota are dedicated to off-ice training, so we pretty much have our whole team up here for the summer. We lift weights twice a week – legs twice a week and upper body twice a week – and one day of agility and sprints to work on speed and quickness. I mean, it would obviously be nice to be home for the summer, but if you are a committed athlete, there's no better place to work out than at your school. We have a great weight room and great facilities, so I live up here for the summer and make the most of it.

DK: Both of my most memorable moments happened last year in Saskatchewan. Winning a gold medal is always a dream come true. I got to play against Canada in Canada – played them twice, lost the first in a shootout, but won the second in overtime for the gold medal. My best friend, Jordan Schroeder was on the team, so to win against Canada like that with some of my closest friends, was an incredible feeling.
Didn't know that.

I know, he is not *yet* one of our prospects, but Jo Brunelle has been invited to the rookie camp in september. He had impressed Gauthier/Timmins & Co. enough to deserver another shot. I can understand, his skating is good, he has offensive talent and descent hands. I wish him all the best luck. ('cause I'm a Volt fan, obviously ^^)

EDIT : the link http://www.journalexpress.ca/Sports/...l-a-Brunelle/1

In the NCAA there's something similar with Michigan.

Komisarek
Pacioretty
Palushaj
Pateryn
Bennett

Plus their coach Red Berenson played for the Habs in the '60's.

In the getting out of NCAA category since it's a little popular nowadays....Mac Bennett is an interesting case. Not because it will happen but because I'm really torn between what would be his best scenario.

Now, a lot of people knows my love for the Michigan hockey team. Cleary my fav. NCAA team. And a whole lot of players who get out of that system, becomes pretty good players in their own way. And for a guy like Bennett, who CLEARLY needs to get stronger and take some weight, again, hitting the gym and practicing might very well be what the doctor orders.....but geez am I really afraid of his playing time this upcoming year. Still tons of good d-men left, and good d-men to come that will compete with him. 30ish games might translate into 15 as far as he's concerned and I don't like that very much.

I know though that his rights are with Gatineau so it's possible that it's not the right fit either. That playing for the Q will make him a very good d-man and definately without the challenge that bigger boys in NCAA will give him........But I'm really concerned about his playing time down there.

First instincts would be to leave him there....but I'd really like to know Michigan's intention for the upcoming year. Burlon, Moffie, Langlais, Pateryn, Llewellyn seems to be surefire starters. Then, will they move Vaughan back to D? How about newcomers Kevin Clare but especially Jon Merrill?

good post whitesnake, i thought last year was the perfect time for Bennett to leave for Gatineau, with 1 year left before going to college, he could had 2 full year in the Q before turning pro. but now unless he gets close to zero playing time i can't see him leaving for the Q. Maybe Benoit Groulx can work his magic but i dont believe its going to happen. Americans just do not come to play in the Q period (with a couple exception)

Looking at how things are shaping up in Michigan, Bennett look like a guy who won't turn pro until after his junior year.

EDIT: looking at gatineau depth chart on defense, if somehow they would add Bennett that would give them one of the better defense corps in the Q with the likes of Nicolas Deslaurier, Hubert Labrie, Adam Janosik, Hugo Laporte

Goaltender Peter Delmas, Colorado's 2008 second round pick, got a tryout with the Habs.

http://www.metronews.ca/halifax/blog/post/604104

Let's see if he can rebound from two consecutive bad seasons...

he was pretty good once he got to Halifax last year but i agree he's been terrible most of the time since its 16yo season. injury might have something to do with it and his mental game need work.

Halifax was pretty much out of the playoffs...

I guess his problem is part injury/part mental.

Happy to see Delmas getting a tryout. I do remember myself saying how Delmas could be a steal at the rank he was picked.....doesn't seem like it now but we'll see how he could rebound. I know he impressed the hell out of me in his draft year. The same way a certain Steve Mason impressed me for the few times I saw both of them playing. Can't always win I guess. Still have confidence Delmas will pull it off. I have a hard time believing he can't be better than Mayer can. Also possible that there was room to grow for Mayer while Delmas had already reached his potential. We'll see soon.

I know that when the Remparts got him, I was sure they were going to be unbeatable.....things can change quite fast.

I remember when Delmas was competing with Bernier at Lewiston and there was a lot of hype surrounding him.

Hopefully, he rebounds because if he does, he can be quite a decent prospect for us if we do sign him.
