just saw Dimitri Chesnokov twitter status over 400 regular season game + 34 pre-season game khl game on the khl website

First this is awesome but other than Emelin there not much prospects i would like to see play. don't really care about Trunev since i doubt he ever coming over NA and Ramo is not really a prospects anymore imo.

as far as 2011 draft prospect playing in the khl i should ask Alessandro because all of the top guys are over NA this season it seems.

-Vladislav Namestnikov C London (ohl) (2011 eligible)
-Alexander Khokhlachev C Windsor (ohl) (2011 eligible)
-Nail Yakupov C Sarnia (ohl) (2012 eligible)
-Anton Zhlobin Rw Shawinigan (2011 eligible)
-Igor Levitsky Lw Gatineau (qmjhl) (2011 eligible)
-Maxim Kazarov Rw Rouyn-Noranda (qmjhl) (2011 eligible)

For whoever is interested in knowing: Konstantin Korneev won't be the captain of CSKA Moscow this season,

it will be a forward, Nikolai Pronin, who played for CSKA for almost 10 years before leaving 5 years ago.

Any reason why Korneev lost it? Think he might reconsider coming to MTL?

Pronin had been captain of the team before leaving, and still is the youngest captain of team's history at the age of 24 or probably even younger than that.

I know this is old and some of you might have figured this out, but my guess is he met up with other guys who attended the Octagon Camp (for players represented by Octagon agents). I wish I had known before last friday that they were having scrimmages. I think it was at the rink near point st-charles but I'm not sure.

This may be old news, but apparently Jason Missiaen will be at the Jackets camp for a try-out.

Well not old news for me, didn't know that. Thanks.

One guy I can't wait to see what's going on for him is Fischer....

those were some great articles to read. My only gripe was them calling Avtsin a 'one trick pony'. I don't think he's the next coming of ovechkin, but 'one trick pony' is kinda harsh.

Same here. Just watch the highlights, he plays on the first PK and isn't anywhere near afraid of laying out the hits.

Good read. 3 things left me a bit surprised though.

1 - as others have already mentionned, the part about Avtsin being a one-trick poney and not being physical. It's the first time I read or hear that. It's odd since before that he says he has good hands, good speed and great shot.

2 - The idea of converting Pacioretty into a defenseman. (to the author's defense he admits this is a bit out of the left field)

3 - I find it odd that in 3 paragraphs on Kristo, there's not one single mention (or even allusion) to his wrist shot. I've always thought that it was his main strength. Am I wrong ?

Fair point on the 1 trick pony comment. I didn't think much of how that might come off when I said it. I was trying to make a point on how unpolished his game generally is at this point in his career, that his offensive instincts are what carries his game right now. He definitely has the physical tools to work with (namely speed and size) to become more effective all around. I'm also trusting other sources on Avtsin... he's an unknown to me in the sense that I haven't been able to actually watch him play outside of the world of YouTube.

Yes, Kristo does have a great wrist shot/quick release. Don't know why I neglected to mention it.

The Pacioretty comment was brought up by one of the people who took part in the voting. It's an interesting idea, based on the thought that Pacioretty's upside is of a good checking forward, not a scoring one, so he sees little harm in trying an experiment. I still do believe he has offensive potential (not high end, but complementary), but am always interested in these kinds of experiments. Watching Colton Gilles in junior, I always thought he had a more attractive skill set as a blueliner than a forward. Big difference: Gillies played defence as a youth, and in an injury fill-in during his draft year. MaxPac would be learning a new position all together from what I can tell.

Glad you like the series!

Thank you for answering my comments. I really do like the series and it comes handy in this boring hockey-starved summer. When can we expect the article about the top 5 ?

I'm not against converting struggling forwards into defensemen. But I just don't see it in Pacioretty. I still have faith in him to become a top 6 forward and, to me, his skting technique spells forward all the way. Just my 2 cents.

The Mooseheads have a nice young team to watch now.. I'll be watching Ciampani and Frk closely this year, hoping to see the game vs. the Junior to scout out Leblanc.

I knew that Frk was denied but Smith was still trying to get him over here. I've haven't followed it for the last week but did they manged to get him over here?

Yeah, they announced this morning they secured his release after negotiating with his Czech club.

He's here. Shoot me a pm if you're going to any games this year, we'll have to hit up the Plum or somewhere for a drink before/after the game.

Can do. I live in the valley so I only get to 3-4 games a year usually for something to do.

I watched all the prospect videos from the 2010 Habs development camp last night (huge thanks to whoever put that on YouTube!).

I really like what I saw, for the most part.
-Eller looks superb; explosive, shifty, strong on his skates.
-Tinordi looks very smooth but his puck skills remind me of Hal Gill; even though he's big and strong, doesn't seem to get good strength behind his shots or passes.
-Ellis' style reminds me a bit of Craig Rivet.
-Mark McMillan was the biggest surprise for me. Extremely quick, looks like a ball of energy out there and seems to have great moves and overall puck skills. His skating style isn't the best but he can move for sure.
-Gallagher was what I expected, a small, quick player who is smart and good with the puck.
-Westin looked to me like the least talented forward (obviously this is based only on a clip of a few minutes and not even game situation).
