too funny. there is much rejoicing in rangerland !!

no to pavol demitra. yipeee.... we dodged a bullet there i'll tell ya. the bum. the broken down bum.

now lets get to the business at hand.

let all the youngins play..... let all the new guys play. alot. let them earn valuable experience and well........they'e earned it...er..well, not earned so much, but they are better than an old guy. blocking.....and stuff. i vote no to blocking. whatever that means.

no blockage now. no injury prone "broken down" 35 yr olds....(otherthanprospal) to cause problems and um.....like score goals and stuff.... yes, no demitra !!!

we are free now, free to attain greatness this upcoming season.... or a top 5 draft pick in 2011...

let the kids play !

ODC, you kid, but that's it EXACTLY. If we're not going to sign the one difference maker out there, then I either want our kids - who will be part of the future core - to push us to the playoffs (great if they do! It means they're as good as we had hoped and ahead of expectations.) or, if they fail, to deliver us a pick where we can finally draft a difference maker.

The WORST thing possible would be a repeat of last year - and Pavol's addition would've done nothing more than take us one step closer to that result.

If he's injured forget it. That's why he only played 28 games last year. We don't need him doing the same this year with the Rangers. He's a waste of money. He'll probably replace Christensen as a center and Christensen did well last year. I say don't sign him.

I would have LOVED to see Demitra play for the Rangers...........5 years ago.

Good move to not sign this guy even if we are desperate for some talent up front.

He played for his country well, but he didn't play for his paycheck. I think that is the one thing that was obvious to those who sign the checks.

You can at least make the case that Christensen has a degree of upside.

Pavol Demitra told Sport-Express he had offer w/#NYR he liked, a complex deal w/bonuses, but NYR dragged things out, so he signed w/KHL

Why does Squishy not report these things to us directly anymore? I feel unloved. Not thrilled to hear we made an offer to another stop-gap. Having said that, if "things dragged out" maybe it means they're working on better solutions.

You're actually bummed that Demitra signed to play in the KHL and not with the Rangers?

There are a bunch of different reasons I've been spending less time here, but the biggest is I've been swamped at work. Twitter gets the word out faster and to more people and I'm forced to keep it to 140 characters, rather than babble on like I usually do here.

I was also in the process of translating his actual quote and posting it on my blog, which is why I didn't get here sooner.

Quote:
Of the options in the NHL the most interesting was from the Rangers. I was interested in playing on attack with my friend Marion Gaborik. But the offer from New York constantly changed because they tried to get under the salary cap. I was offered a very complex contract which included various bonuses. In principle, everything suited me, but the Rangers representatives delayed negotiations without explanation. And we reached the agreement with Yaroslavl in a few minutes. I took a week to think it over, and on Thursday I signed the contract.

Another good non-move by Sather today. He's been showing some serious restraint this off-season which can only mean he knows he's got this job until he hands it over to Mess. Cigar is putting together a nice little "5-year plan" it seems.

disturbing. they were in fact making a push for him. i guess this is the case where our bad salary cap # played to our advantage!

edit: not a good job by sather. we just got lucky is all.
