Burlon is a guy we haven't heard much about because he has been in college and is planning to max out his eligibility. But I think he still may become an NHL player.

He doesn't get mentioned here as often as Josefson or Teddy, but I have a feeling Eckford is going to surprise many people. (knock on wood)

Poor man's Paul Martin perhaps?

I was the assistant equipment manager at Niagara University where Haczyk plays. He is a little on the small side, but he has some major wheels. I saw him breeze past defensemen a few times and score a highlight reel goal. He is also a battler and will do what it takes for the team to win.

I was thinking, if we don't add another D-man, I hope that Salvo is moved out anyways and we let the kids play there. We have 3 guys with a legit shot at cracking the lineup and with good potential (Eckford, Corrente, Urbom) and some other guys like Taormina and Burlon among others. If the defense looks like this:

Greene-Volchenkov
Tallinder-Urbom/Eckford/Corrente
White-Urbom/Corrente/Eckford

We could strike gold with at least one of these guys which could be great for us. Maybe one could surprise us and solidify a top 4 role. I'd rather have this situation and have Fraser as a 7th guy than bringing back Motts and having him eventually play in the top 4.

Don't tell TG. Any positive mention of Eckford is met with him saying "people in the organization have said they're not sure he is a NHL player." It's like a reflex for him at this point

TG jumps at any chance he has to take little shots at the devils. It's quite annoying..

TG's opnion of our players holds no water at all.

TG knows as much about hockey as I do about water polo.

I want him out of Michigan.

Burlon's college career has been utterly unimpressive. I don't see much there.

I read from a Ranger fan that althought TG covers the Devils, he isn't a Devils fan. Just curious if this might be true.

He's admitted several times that he's not a Devils fan.

Stevens likes him, he's a hunter, he could help our offense from the blue line. I'm buying an Eckford jersey.

This is the only thing that worries me about Merrill going there. It's no secret how Lombardi felt about Jack Johnson and his time at michigan. If you watch, their top d-men pretty much have no reigns and are allowed to roam anywhere. Johnson, while uber-talented and productive at Michigan, had no structure there. He's getting really good, but he was a mess.

He had a nice freshman year, but he definitely took a step back last season. I'd really like to see a productive Junior year out of him. He's a very good/smooth skater. If he has another down year this season, I'd get him out and to Albany.

i thought i heard it was for the scrimmage only, which i believe is usually held in the afternoon... i dont know if its worth speculating or just waiting for it to be announced...thanks~

I believe it was held on Saturday last year and the scrimmage was early. It was announced a day or two before the scrimmage. I'm kind of hoping for the same thing this year. We'll probably find out by Wednesday when it is this year.

Unless Burlon explodes within the next two years I'll have to agree with CD - underwhelming to say the least. Right now I think Fayne has more upside, to be honest. Similar, if not better college stats, much more size, and Fayne is pretty mobile and good with the puck himself.
