I really hope LA signs him....

Then we get an opportunity to take a poke at Doughty or Johnson with an offer sheet next year

I just don't see Lou breaking the unwritten rule and poaching an RFA.

And would the draft picks we would have to pony up be worth it?

For Doughty, hell yes. For Johnson, depends on what the picks are.

Not worth it if you actually want to sign him to something the Kings won't match.

I could definitely see a few teams try to sign Parise to one. Let's hope Lou doesn't let it get to that point.

I don't think he will allow it to get to that point. But I think part of the reason Lou doesn't poach RFAs is because of the off chance that Parise does make it past July 1 without being re-signed. If we haven't been poaching other teams' RFAs, they'll be less likely to mess with ours.

Only one way Parise's not a Devil for a long time... he elects arbitration. Obviously Devils are not going to take him to arbitration. Any offer sheet will be a long term deal, which we match. Or we sign him to a long term deal. Obviously the final scenario is best. Don't want another team dictating your payroll. And you want to be timely in order to avoid having player select arbitration.

I know Lou will match but I'd rather avoid having to overpay to keep him and just going through that whole process would be a nightmare. This whole Kovalchuk situation would be a minor case of anxiety compared to the complete mental breakdown we would have at the possibility of losing Zach.

Good God. Kovy this year, followed by any uncertainty whatsoever regarding Parise next year. Complete, utter cataclysm.

I'd give Doughty 10 years 100M.

No joke.

I can't believe in every hockey pool I hit this year, I took him with the last pick in all 4. Unbelievable.

I hope he doesn't make it to training camp this year without a new contract. Parise needs to be locked up as soon as possible, like yesterday.

Now Eklund says "Kovalchuk/Kings Deal "not looking good right now"", Will the GM say to the paper again that they're out of it? what a bush league team. Lou Lam is so professional, and i think that is what will win Kovy over to our side in the end.

I've said it all along, Kovy wants to be in LA and he wants to get paid. In NJ he'll get paid but doesn't want to be here. Now we wait until he decides what he wants more.

It's been reported that Kings GM is denying ever even meeting with Kovy himself.

Who the hell knows at this point.

I still believe he's a Devil, until he signs on that dotted line.
