I have been stoked this offseason. No "superstars", but I think we've made some smart moves that will benefit our 10-11 squad in more ways than in just the goal column. Hopefully you guys are as geared up as I am.
With that being said, I feel like the Preds are having a youth movement so to speak. We have brought in a few guys just hitting their prime and alot of young prospects who will hopefully see time in the show this season. Now, last year I remember Trotz making the comment that Weber got an A for his leadership as well as he did not want all of our captains on the same line (SAD). Now that Weber has the C, who gets the A's? Do we keep Sully in that role for his expeirence or do we mix things up? I would love for Suter to get a look, he certainly deserves it, but that puts two captains on a d pairing.
I love those wearing a letter to lead by example. Shea certainly does that, as well as Suter. But the one guy who really puts it all on the line each night is Hornqvist. That guy just doesnt quit. Yes he's only been up one full year, but his energy is contagious. Does he deserve a look?
My vote...Sully and Hornqvist. Let Sully finish his time here as a leader. Then pass that role to Suter. Hornqvist will lead by example every night. I don't know how vocal he is or what he's like in the dressing room, but I'd say he has the respect of his teammates and coaches. Who should our alternates be this coming season?
Im 99% they'll rotate like they always have. Suter, Leggy, Hornqvist, Sully, and Erat will all see time with an A, but i think Sully and Suter will see the most. Hornqvist and Suter no doubt for 2011-2012 (as long as Horny plays like he did last year.)
Forgive me, because I've only been around since 07 just games before Sully got hurt, but did they rotate before he got hurt? I thought it was his "A" and instead of naming someone new they rotated the one he was supposed to have.
My vote goes to Suter and Sully... and about the "A" and "C" being on one d pairing, Arny and JP used to play together when they had it.
