Does anyone know why Hrabal still hasn't made the national team yet? From what I have heard he is an excellent defenseman in the Extraliga and well worth trying out......better than guys like Zib I think.
S kolegy Kučerou a Fischerem má už ucelenou představu o kostře mužstva, sestava bude dostávat finální podobu na soustředění v zámoří. "Evropská část týmu tam odletí 17. prosince, připravovat se budeme nedaleko Calgary. Sehrajeme přátelská utkání s Lotyšskem a Ruskem, pak už pro nás začne samotný šampionát," uzavírá Miroslav Přerost.
Any thoughts on the players mentioned there? (Krejčí, Mozík, Bartejs) Czechexpert?

I heard that Krejčí is a raw talent but tends to be inconsistent, as well as that he has had issues with discipline in the past....no idea about the others.
The statement that worries me most is this one: "Je mi záhadou, kam se poděla řada dvaadevadesátek, které měly v kategorii do 16 nebo 17 let slušné výsledky."
That IMO just shows how bad the development system is when it comes to the 'crucial' age range between 15-19 where we have so few good players.
Dohoda platí až do konce ročníku 2015-16.
I have to admit they are doing really good job about this thing. All teams are playing tons of games and games with good opponents lately. I see the difference compared to the last season the one before that.

Krejci has always been one of top 92´born puck moving D in Czech but there were/are issues with commitment, attitude, work ethic. Haven´t seen him this season yet but his d-zone awareness and effort on d-side of the game was poor in previous seasons plus he is poor backwards skater, lacks agility, foot speed, pivots/turning is slow. Can move the puck, has vision, can rush the puck up the ice, hard shot, solid on PP.
Mozik has made nice proggress but still is very raw in own zone. Right handed D with good size and decent mobility. Has some poise and can move the puck a bit, has some puck skills. Good effort and willing to use his body but lacks d-zone awareness and reading and gets out of position a lot.
Haven´t seen Bartejs many times(maybe once or twice ever, never impressed me much.

Thx. Will be interesting to see if any of them impressed the coaches enough to make the final team.
Mrazek will play in the upcoming World Junior Championship! This is excellent news!
I was very pleased with Krejčík in todays game (EHT, 5-1 over Finland). I think he could easily stay on the team for the rest of the season if he continues to play like this (probably not the WC itself though). Of course I'm aware of that Finns didn't have the strongest team.

Agreed. Krejčík was also excellent today, I remember that he made at least one crucial defensive manoeuvre that prevented the Russians from scoring. His reward was more ice-time and time on the penalty kill, where he was good. If he keeps playing like this I have no qualms about taking him to the WC. We need every good D-man we can get.
The whole team (except perhaps Troncinsky) played exceptionally well against the Russians. We looked possessed. There were times when we were out-playing them and out-skating them (since when can we skate like that??!!!), a rare sight indeed. Vrana's solo was awesome, shame he didn't score. The game felt to me like the QF of the WC, everyone was playing to the maximum of their ability and there were a lot of great combinations. The fore-check was astonishing. It was a treat to watch both teams today. Overall I reckon we deserved the win, because I think we were just that bit better.

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. Krejcik looked very good, Troncinsky made some mistakes in his defensive play but he´s still pretty young so I would invite him to the next tournament again.
I also would like to mention Orsava and Pech. Even though they didn´t get so much ice time they showed that they are able to play on international level. I especially liked Orsava´s performance. He brought new blood into our team - great skating, speed, was energic, looked confident... This is excatly what our team needs.
Marek Hrbas
David Musil
Radek Faksa
Tomáš Hertl
Tomáš Hyka
Dmitrij Jaškin
Lukáš Sedlák
I really hope Stránský will be on the team too. He's having great season. Should be a great team with Frk. Goalies born in 93 look good too.
Agreed. I think it wouldn't be unrealistic to say we could make the quarterfinal again, the group will surely be easier than the one we had this year and the team has still got some of our core good players + Frk and good 93 goaltending.
Speaking of possible U-20 players to invite to Euro Hockey Challenge friendly games, I would definitely say Holik (who really impressed me) and Hertl. Other potential guys for me would be Zamorsky and Jaskin. Possibly Krejci.
I was also impressed by Holik and Zamorsky. Those two guys has a lot of opportunities to play in Czech extraliga and it has a great impact on their play. Holik has one big disadvantage - he's too short, so he has almost no chance to go to the NHL, but he can stay in Europe and develop into top European player. In my opinion he's very similar to Jan Kana (HC Vitkovice). I'd like to see Holik, Zamorsky, Jan Kana, Hertl and Jaskin in Euro Hockey Challenge friendly games.

I don't think it's at all out of the question for them to make the quarters next year. They won't have Mrazek in net, but they'll have a very strong team, especially if Stransky is allowed to play. Lot's of the Czech's playing in the CHL will be on that team. I wouldn't be surprised if next years team is stronger than this year.
Goaltending will likely be Bartosak and Honzik.
Defense will have Musil and Hrbas coming back and guys like Nedomlel, Sidlik and Plutnar as well.
Forward group will be strong as well. Jaskin, Frk, Sedlak, Hyka, Hertl, Faksa, Machac, Stransky, Placek, Beran + other guys playing in the Czech league or depth NA guys like Beranek or Volek. Doesn't look half bad to me. They should beat teams like Switzerland and Latvia and could beat Finland as well. The Swede's should take the division though.

Zamorsky is too slow skater for higher level, he is basically copy of Martin Hamrlik.
Once again I liked Tomas Nosek at World juniors. Lacks strength right now and not a good finisher but love his hockey sense and playmaking skills. Radek Faksa played well in his limited role too.
