I'm liking that U-17 team. Zboril seems to be putting up a ton of points.

I don´t like that team actually. There is only one really good player, underage forward David Pastrnak. Plus goalie Lukes.
Zboril put some points but was pretty bad and will be only worse and worse down the road. His development is closed to finished.
Of course some good players were missing-Vrana, Kostalek, Kohout, Zdrahal. Plus two forwards who are used sparingly on this team but guys with real talent(on contrary to many regular players on the team...) Miroslav Indrak and Jan Mandat.

U23 - fiction (2)

Maybe some of you remember that about a year ago I tried to write down a fictional U23 team for 11/12 season (post 233) from players born 1989 and younger. I'll try again with guys born 1990 and younger now. It's just for fun, but also it's not bad to look at this age group from time to time to know what we could expect in the future from mens NT. Just to make things clear - the purpose is not to pick the best prospects, but the team which could actually play some hockey in the 12/13 season if some competition among U23 NT's existed. I have to admit I had really hard time with choosing some players, so excuse my ignorance if there is any there

Goaltenders (3x)
Dominik Furch (1990)
Petr Mrázek (1992)
Jakub Sedláček (1990)

Defensemen (8x)

Jakub Jerabek should be there, he is better than Ruzicka and Stritesky for sure.

When I was looking today for Pavel Bure's Nagano 5 goal game on YT, I just came across this vid. Don't get me wrong, I'm not excessively nostalgic person, but this one's really cool because of well chosen music, which makes it EPIC. So I thought I'll share it here

Olympics 2014

IIHF website says...
Quote:
Participants: Nations ranked 1-9 according to the 2012 IIHF Men’s World Ranking plus three qualifiers.

Seeding:
Group A: Russia (1), Slovakia (6), USA (7), Qualifier 3
Group B: Finland (2), Canada (5), Norway (8), Qualifier 2
Group C: Czech Republic (3), Sweden (4), Switzerland (9), Qualifier 1

The eight teams with the best records (the best two teams of each group and the two teams ranked third with the best record) advance to the quarter-finals.
Personally i like that group a lot. I'm looking forward to playing against these teams. What I don't like is the last sentence. The change probably won't hurt us, but it sucks for teams 9-12, why not to give them a chance to play an elimination game? But whatever.

I don't see our chances bright at all . Swedes will be tough as hell to beat in two years, and Swiss are always a thread. But Mrazek will be a wall in two years

I know we'll have Pavelec in goal and will win all the matches don't worry

Not a bad looking group at all. Happy we're not in Group A (that one doesn't look so nice).

I guess it didn't. I don't know exactly how this works, so I don't want to get into it...

The Acadie-Bathutst Titan of the QMJHL drafted both Zboril and Zdrahal and the last information I had was that they will report.
What should we expect from these two guys at the CHL level?

I think ČSLH uses the last team the player played for in this nominations.

So, a nice 7-1 thrashing from Sweden to kick start the season. Good stuff...
