Impact FC 2 - The Uprising: Sydney

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_FC_2

Quote:
Impact FC 2 - The Uprising: Sydney is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by Impact Fighting Championships on July 18, 2010 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Sydney, Australia.

Heavyweight bout: Ken Shamrock vs. Pedro Rizzo
Welterweight bout: Paul Daley vs. Daniel Acacio
Heavyweight bout: Bob Sapp vs. Soa Palelei
Middleweight bout: Denis Kang vs. Paulo Filho
Middleweight bout: Murilo Rua vs. Jeremy May
Middleweight bout: Murilo Bustamante vs. Jesse Taylor
Heavyweight bout: Peter Graham vs. Jim York
Light Heavyweight bout: Glover Teixeira vs. Marko Peseli
Lightweight bout: Richard Vaculik vs. Glenn Taylor-Smith
Welterweight bout: Shane Nix vs. Manuel Rodriguez
Not a great card but lots of familiar names and some that are still relevant. I'm mainly interested because some of my all-time favorites are on the card in Rizzo, Ninja and Busta. The first Impact FC was last weekend with the winners including Barnett, Karo, Monson and Sokoudjou with Carlos Newton losing his fight. Not sure where this weekends event is being shown yet but it says on wiki that the Barnett and Karo fights from last weekend will be shown as well. I really, really want to see Pedro KO Shamrock. One of my 2 alltime favourite fighters against a guy I've come to hate over the last decade.

Pretty solid cards for an obscure organization. Interested to see how Shamrock/Rizzo, Daley, Kang and Ninja perform.

War Filho!

Really hope this dude actually shows up for the card. Baby steps, Paulo. Show up in shape (but show up first) and get your **** together.

Dude is just so sick talented.

I don't know how people can cheer for Filho, he's so unreliable that I wish he'd just go away. His 2nd fight against Sonnen is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in an MMA fight.

Because when he is "on" (no strange voices talking to him), he's the most dangerous 185 outside of Anderson, IMO.

Bob Sapp's out apparently, due to a dispute with the promotor about travel arrangements. Soa Palalei (who was involved in probably one of the worst UFC fights I've ever seen against Eddie Sanchez a couple years ago) is now fighting fellow UFC washout Brad Morris instead.

Uh, the dude is mentally ill. Why is it wrong to cheer for him to get better and healthy?

Speaking of wacky Paulo:

Kang weighs in at 185. They have no idea where Filho is. Shocking. They're letting Kang weigh in now, and moving on, will get Filho after.

Filho, Acacio and Teixeira all went to cut this morning, and got delayed leaving somehow. A van is bringing them all to the hotel now.

Acacio and Teixeira have arrived. But where is Paulo? Let the drama begin.

Just waiting on Jeremy May's re-weigh-in and Paulo Filho to show up from wherever he is. 20 different voices are saying "Paulao? Paulao?"

HE IS HERE. BIG PAULO HAS ARRIVED.

Filho has stripped off, and is just standing there in a towel, waiting for an official. He has just sat next to me in said towel. Awkward.

Filho is in at 187. He has to cut 400 grams. He doesn't look happy at all.

Wow. This just got ****ing weird. Filho looks like he's going to cry, and asking Tom Huggins if Kang will give him the extra extra pound.

Cristiano Marcello just gave Filho a pack of gum, and he's spitting into a cup as they try to work out what to do to help him get under.

Filho just ripped his towel off and threw his shorts on bareback right next to me. That was almost a really horrifying experience.

So, we're just sitting here now, waiting for some resolution to this Filho debacle. He's got 34 more minutes to make weight.

Paulao just got here, wearing a sweater and jeans over his sweat suit. There's perspiration dripping onto the floor. Revolting.

Paulo just got completely naked and jumped on the scale. Like, he didn't even use the towel. Just completely stark naked. That was something

Filho weighed in at 186 pounds, but not before forcing the room to stare at his penis.

Tom Huggins just put Filho's sweaty Venum shorts on me. I think I just had a seizure.

Jesse Taylor rode Murilo Bustamante for most of the fight. Bustamente didn't look that bad though really. Murillo had to stop b/c of injury.

Filho / Kang fight is really technical so far. That escape by Kang was gorgeous.

Split draw in the Filho-Kang fight. Great fight. That judge has a lot of balls.

Good to see draws giving out, UFC judges need to learn from this, sometimes a draw is needed.
