Ok... Kovalchuk re-sings with Devils. I think, Gagne would be traded to Kings

Excellent. Eklund all but ruled out Kovalchuk going anywhere besides LA. I actually don't mind the Devils so I can root for him there.

Some sources are putting the length of the Kovalchuk deal at 17 years. Meaning he'd be 44 when the deal finally expires.

Lamoriello will be 84 when his contract expires. It's a joke. 100m / 17yrs.

Given the hit such a contract would bring, it'll push the Devils very close to the cap, if not over (depending on who specifically makes the team) Meaning someone's got to go.

I like Travis Zajac, although he doesn't make any sense for TB to acquire. Dainius Zubrus is under contract for 3 more years with a 3.4m cap hit. He looks like the likely candidate for trade. I could totally see Lawton trading for him. 6-5 and perennial underachiever. Good thing we've got Yzerman now.

Rolston is making a bit much for what he brings (5m, 2yrs remain, +35, NTC)

However, I don't see any players that the Lightning could really benefit from having. Maybe as some more dominoes fall.

Do you guys see this as gagne slipping away from us now? It makes a lot of sense for LA to offer more for him than yzerman would be comfortable with.

Darn, we missed out again.

Or I could be totally off base and Ek actually pulled one out. From EE's twitter:

As someone who watched Lashoff through juniors, I really, really hope Holmgren says no to this. Not to mention the fact that the Flyers already have too many defensemen at too high a cost.

Amazing deal by SY (even if we're uncertain of the return as of yet).

I love Gagne, wanted him on the Leafs, but I am still so excited he ended up with you guys. The top 6 is so lethal now. I'm so jealous.

Im nervous about the return. I thought Tokarski was the goalie of the future. Maybe not?

Sure hope it's not Tokarski. I'm also hearing Tyrell and Lashoff, Wishart - but why would the Flyers take another D?

So now we find out if Stevie Y is jedi master.

So, if Smith is included, who is goalie partners with Ellis?

And I'm not saying anything else until I check with EE's twitter, he got me again.

Quote:
To conflict some reports already starting to surface Mike Smith is not part of the Gagne deal, no goaltenders, in fact, from what I've heard

Wow, I understand the need to trade him but I'm still surprised.....absolute warrior in the playoffs and when healthy, still at the top of his game, the Bolt's got a really talented professional NHL player.

Good luck Simon.....

Per Damian Cristodero of SP Times: It's Gagne for Matt Walker and a fourth-round pick.

Wow, what a steal.

Walker and a 4th for Gagne? , great deal for you guys. He gets injured a lot, but he helps further round out your forward core.

Good deal
