I'd be happy to take him... on a one year deal under 3 million. We have very few options as it stands right now for the Top 6, and come trading deadline time if we are out of the race (which is a very real possibility) then so long as he is having even a decent season he would be a good trade chip.
I like him but I'd have to say no...atleast until after the season starts. If it turns out that non of the kids are ready to earn a spot, I'd take him in oct. or nov...Or maybe in like February when we need to make a push.
You cannot win with this fanbase. You cuss the albatross contracts almost exclusively, complain about trades for worthless defensemen in exchange for worthless forwards (see: Aaron Voros), ask for a mean streak defenseman (but then complain when he gets drafted, see: Dylan McIlrath), complain when the organization doesn't properly develop or let the kids play, and then when we finally have a chance for a few of them to make it, we open the doors to veteran guys way past their prime - simply because there is a chance we might get them cheap.
Cheap, expensive, free. Demitra is trash and not in the future plans for our New York Rangers. Explain LOGICALLY how he helps our team instead of watching some kids (OUR KIDS) grow.
Agreed. The last thing we should be looking for is a guy to play with Gaborik. We have 3 of them already (Dubinsky, Prospal, Christensen) and I'm sure MZA, Anisimov, and others would benefit from playing with Gabby as well. We should be looking to fill other holes.
