Best 'Seinfeld' Episode Tournament: Round 2 (FOXSPORTS)

Still love this show!

Quote:
Voting for Round 2 of our tournament to determine the best episode of "Seinfeld" is now open.

Before we preview Round 2, let's look back at Round 1 for a moment.

The biggest margin of victory was "The Contest" (89 percent) thumping "The Lip Reader" (11 percent.) The smallest margin of victory was "The Puffy Shirt" (51 percent) slipping past "The Bubble Boy" (49 percent.)

Just like no No. 16 seed has even won an NCAA tournament game, no 8 seed advanced in our Field of 32.

However, two 7 seeds moved on to Round 2 with "The Strike" (66 percent) blowing past "The Dinner Party" (34 percent) and "The Hamptons" (55 percent) pulling out a narrow win over "The Merv Griffin" (45 percent.)

Almost every one I voted for is losing.

Seriously, how is 'The Strike' beating 'The Puffy Shirt'?

I really liked The Strike.

That's the episode with Festivus.

I agree with virtually all of the wins.

I might have picked Bubble Boy over the Puffy Shirt.

The Face Painter (knocked out in Round: 1 by The Rye) has always been one of my favourite episodes.... not sure if it's the actual writing of the episode that I love or just the fact that hockey is involved and I've seen enough crazy-ass face painters to be able to relate to the show.

Merv Griffith show should have advanced. I refuse to vote.

Against the Hamptons? I don't know - that one was as solid as any episode.

1. Shrinkage.

2. Kramer pulling lobster from the ocean.

3. George's topless girlfriend.

4. The baby who was "breathtaking".

It wove the storylines together so well.

The Boyfriend may be top four for me, because Keith Hernandez is in it, but is it one of the four funniest ever? I don't know.

How is the Hamptons a 7th seed??? Should be a 1 or 2 seed IMO.

The Soup Nazi is probably the most overrated Seinfeld episode - I'm betting it wins.

The Chinese restaurant and the one where Kramer invests in a theatre and looks after Lloyd Braun and two of my favorites and The Bris.

The pig-man! I saw a pig-man!

Merv Griffin Show ep was close to the low point of Seinfeld's later-season silliness for me. Not a big fan. Especially against the Hamptons, that's a no brainer.

Surprised The Boyfriend is losing to The Chicken Roaster. Both are good, but The Boyfriend is one of the all-time best for me.

Seems like my all-time favorite (I think, it varies) The Pitch/The Ticket, didn't even make the original bracket. So what do I know.

The Soup Nazi story itself is great, but the subplots (Jerry and his girlfriend's baby talk, Elaine's armoire) aren't very good.

The payoff (Elaine vs. the Soup Nazi) is one of the series' best though.

The Parking Garage was actually a lot more original when it came out, compared with Soup Nazi.

I'd never seen a sitcom where they spend the whole time lost in the parking garage. It's one of the first episodes that really resonated with me.

I'd be tempted to take it over Soup Nazi, which was obviously one of the most quoted episodes, but I agree not as well rounded.

Chicken Roaster is one of the weakest left over.

I think I'd go Marine Biologist vs. Contest or Hamptons in the final, and I'd be tempted to go Marine Biologist.

If there's a missing episode, I'd offer "the Pen".

1. TAKE THE PEN! Do me a personal favour, take the pen!

2. STELLLLLLAAAAAHH!

3. I can't sleep with this stupid BAR in the bed.

4. "STELLLLLLAAAHAH!" "You took too many of those pills."

The Gum. My favourite episode ever, haha. The way everything is woven together so flawlessly to make George seem completely and utterly off his rocker by the end of the episode is just perfectly emblematic of what set Seinfeld apart from other sitcoms.

The Mom and Pop Store might be my favorite and I don't see it. The Shoes and The Switch are also surprising omissions/defeats.

The Summer of George is too good for a 6th seed.

I think the Marine Biologist story and "And you wanna be my latex salesman" are my two favorites moments in the show.

What a shame - and to lose to such a weak episode, too. Yeah, Jerry and George switching personalities was funny and very well executed by both, but The Chinese Restaurant was Seinfeld.

The Opposite is my all-time favourite, and I was sad to see it get booted by an episode that, while solid, is only remembered for a single, one-dimensional catchphrase.

except the only one without Kramer, who was just as important as any other character...always felt like something was missing in that episode
