Gagne and Hartnell to LA

http://network.yardbarker.com/nhl/ar..._Kings/2885997

Not sure how reliable this site is, but figured Id throw it up here. If this were to happen we'd get rid of 2 of my 4 least favorite players, half way there haha.

Smyth and other salary is definitely coming back.

Thats a great deal for both sides tho.

Gagne+hartnell for smyth

not the whole deal im sure.

I wonder if a 3 way could be worked out with toronto sending one fo the LW to us. Maybe Smyth if we send some cheaper talent to philly.

Gagne would be nice, but why Scott "I take stupid penalties constantly" Hartnell?

Makes sense for L.A if its only Gagne, but taking Hartnell as well will put them through cap hell for a long time.

Why not just sign Kovalchuk instead ?

Why would Philly want Smyth?

not only do they replace the scoring touch of frolov with a similar if expensive/injury prone in gagne but they add second line scoring with hartnell. Hartnell can also provide lots of physicality and it free's up wingers for a possible trade for a top2/4 defenseman.

Really? Aside from the Smyth trade, when was the last time Lombardi did anything even remotely big?

Might not be smyth exactly. And I would expect philly to try to move smyth, have a 3way already setup, or move salary to accomidate him.

Smyth is just a bit expensive, he is a fantastic physical player that would fit philly like a glove.

maybe a simmonds+picks/prospects deal is in the works. Philly gets a nice solid powerforward at a good rate, and picks/prospects to restock the system.

The problem with this is that the Kings are still negotiating with Kovy and it wouldn't exactly help that situation.

edit: And I'm willing to suggest Hartnell will be worth his contract more than Kovy would if he signed for more than 7 million per year.

Because we would be on the hook for $7M+ for 10 years while these guys expire in 2011 and 2013.

That said, i doubt this is true.

I'm doubtful just because Kovywatch isn't over. That and I don't see why the Kings wouldn't be satisfied with just Gagne. Hartnell doesn't seem needed to me.

I like it for the Kings. A line of Gagne - Kopitar - Brown could be pretty deadly. Adds depth to the forward ranks and Kings have a young goalie to trade.

Smyth and Bernier/Quick for Gagne and Hartnell? You guys can decide if the value is fair, but the idea remains interesting nonetheless.

No way. It would be prospects, picks and maybe a dead-weight player. i.e Stoll or Williams.

No way the Flyers include two important parts of their team for prospects, picks, and a dead weight player. (Yes, Gagne is important. Holmgren is just a ****ing idiot.)

I was a fan of Smyth on the Oilers but those days are long gone. Smyth isnt very physical. Hartnell is. As a pens fan, i would way rather play against Smyth 6 times a year than Hartnell. He is a pain in the a**

LA can "just add" $7 million. They've been trying to do that very thing with Kovalchuk and if they were to make a deal like this then they'd add that kind of money on a much shorter term. Also, it won't be Smyth...Philly is trying to clear cap space. I'm guessing it would be a goaltender and a prospect.
