Pretty sure I've heard on numerous occasions if he trades Kabs it will be for a "YOUNG" upgrade to the forwards group.....Just saying..
If the leafs were contending for the cup, they wouldn't trade Kaberle. It's not even like this deal seriously helps them now, or in the future.

I'd just look for a return such as Langenbrunner, a 1st, and a prospect -- Corrente/Henrique.

Similar to what Burke is asking for.

There we go...now it's fair...
Langenbrunner + Josefson for Kaberle.

Correct. I have no idea why people keep putting both of them into Kaberle to NJ proposals.

Hell no. Josefson is our most complete forward prospect, and is expected to make the team as the third line centre this season. Less than zero chance he gets moved for Kaberle.

Hmm...I don't agree with this assessment. Langenbrunner would be a fantastic veteran addition. He wouldn't be a part of the "core" at his age but a great leader and support player with point production would be excellent.

Unfortunately, due to his age, I don't think he has quite the value to a young team like the Leafs that he may have to a team on the cusp of contention. I wouldn't imagine him as the "centerpeice" in a Kaberle deal. A young player or prospect or two nearing NHL readiness with high potential would likely need to be included.

As for the original proposal, I don't pretend to know very much about trade value but I would remove Rolston and Grabovski from the proposal. This weakens an already questionable center position for the Leafs and Rolston's contract is undesireable, while the Devils have little need for Grabo with Zajac and Arnott down the middle. I would think the Devils would also have to add a prospect or upgrade the one they are giving.

Really we should just eliminate trade proposals between Toronto and NJ. We don't want Langenbrunner as a foundation to the deal, for one our best trade assets and they don't have many good roster players that they would give up in a trade that makes the Leafs better. Who cares about the prospects (they aren't even offering the good ones)? Burke said he wants to compete now.

Anyway, I'm gonna try and give it another shot.

Jamie Langenbrunner ($2.8M)
Alexander Vasyunov ($850K) or Adam Henrique($845K)
Brian Rolston ($5.1M)
4th round pick

Total: $8.8M

Thomas Kaberle ($4.2M) singed to an extension
Mikhail Stefanovich ($775 K)
Grabovski($2.9M)

Total: $7.8M

Devils get a puck mover and save $1M. Get rid of Rolston's contract

Toroto adds some veteran presence and scoring upfront. Also gets a good prospect

I tried
expect it again. ...still a garbage deal for the Leafs.
Why? ...because it doesnt address what they are looking for in a Kaberle deal, which is a young goal scoring current NHL forward.
