Gagne to NYR..

I haven't dug too deep into whether or not Philly is moving Gagne merely for cap relief or because they've signed too many players, but if it is merely just for cap relief, what about sending Prospal back to Philly to play with Briere...

Rangers get Gagne

Philly gets Prospal

Both are UFA at years end, and I think Gagne in a full year of healthy play finds his way back to a 30 goal campaign... I think it helps out both clubs roughly 3.1 million in cap space between the two after bonuses..

I don't think Philly wants another center. They already have Richards, Carter, Giroux and Briere.

Prospal is more of a winger than a center.

I don't think the Flyers make this type of trade to a divisional rival. Could really come back to bite them in the butt.

Rangers just resigned Prospal to the one-year contract, so I highly doubt he's on the market... plus he showed chemistry with Gaborik so I don't think that Sather will split the two up

Think the Flyers will do all they can to make sure Gags goes West, so he can only truly hurt them in the SC Final!!!!

So much now hinges on the Kovy deal. Wish that dopey w****r would get his future sorted so the rest of us know what we are doing.

Once Kovy decides, it will set a domino reaction in place for one or two clubs, the Flyers being one.

If Kovy goes to LA - Gags goes elsewhere
If Kovy goes elsewhere - Gags goes to LA

I think that's pretty much it, so we wait on the Russian......................

NYR, PIT, NJD, WAS, and even NYI would all have to overpay to get gagne. the flyers aren't interested in helping out a team in the division or a contender.

While I very much think this is true.. don't overlook the fact that Gagne has a no-trade clause. He could say "I'll only waive this if I go to team X." I haven't followed the situation too closely, but I can't imagine Gagne being too happy with the Flyers brass right now.. Agreeing to waive only for another team in the Atlantic would be his way of 'sticking it to them'.
I'm a Rangers fan and Gagne has always been one of my favorite players in the league. It's too bad you guys have to trade him.. having said that, I would welcome him with open arms on the Rangers.. Even if we don't have a center to play with him.

How about:
Brashear for Gagne

We save ~4M in cap space and get a nice old goon for boys up in the Adirondacks.

it's a valid point, and i'm crossing my fingers that this is not the case.

Simon Gagne: "Screw you Paul, I'm only going to waive my NTC to go to a division rival."

Paul Holmgren: "Ok, Simon, I understand. Thanks for all you've done for us. Pack for a cold winter. We're gonna waive you and Edmonton is first in line for your services."

Simon Gagne: "Wait a second Paul, where did you plan on sending me again?"

Somewhere in the middle of all that Gagnes wife (I think he is married) is talking to Prongers wife and they both are crying.

I say next off season when Drooly's contract drops in real money, deal him and sign Gagne.

there are way to many flaws for anyone to actually take this seriously

A) Gagne will not waive his NTC to play for a division rival
B) Philly doesn't need ANOTHER top 6 center
C) Too much cap hit coming back for one player

thats just a few to start us off...

This post just won best post of the week. Comparable in epicness to when someone posted a .gif of Keith Ballard slashing off Vokoun's head with a light Sabre after Kovalchuck scored a breakaway goal.

Gagne for Lundqvist is the only trade with New York I'd consider.
