a call to Preds fans!

I like to think of HF as, bar none, the best place for intelligent hockey talk on web. I believe that we have a small but knowledgeable group here on the Preds board, and we make ourselves well heard on the board as a hole. That said, I'd like to invite everyone to become a "sponsor." The cost of maintaining servers for a site this big and operating costs\bandwidth is pretty astronomical, and it comes pretty much out of pocket for the people that run it. Becoming a sponsor will give you a few nice little perks, as well...the gold star by your name, should you want it...the ability to use the 'signature' feature and a few other nice little things, though i'd like to think that keeping this site ad-free and running in the best possible way would be incentive enough. It's a great site, and a small 5 dollar(six months) or 8 dollars(a year) donation would go a long way to helping out. You can pay through paypal or with a credit card. If it's not something you want to do...that's fine...but t's a small measure to help the site out in a big way.

become a sponsor here:
http://hfboards.com/subscriptions.php?

thanks,
james

i think you probably can, though sending cash through the mail is never recommended. they're talking about setting up an address to send a check to..so as soon as you see that up...i'd send it there...along with your username, so you can get all the little perks\recognition.

a trick i used to use for cash...is write some sort of letter along with the cash...even just a full sheet of paper for your user name, something cheesy like, "thanks for the great place to talk hockey" and fold the money into the letter. that way it's not as obvious there's cash in the envelope.

you turn it on yourself. go into the cp, and there will be some kind of thing toward the bottom about group display. i can' tturn it on for myself, because it would turn my name back to the non-mod color

you go to "group memberships" and highlight the option to display you as amember of the 'sponsors' group

you can also now use a profile pic and turn your signature on

Is there any way to donate a flat fee of say $20. I'm not asking for extra priveledges, just the ability to donate $20 online. I'd rather not send cash.

Do the $8 deal through paypal and it will give you an option for additional donations.

Any way we can figure out the % of sponsors in relation to team? It seems like just about every Pred fan on here is or will become a sponsor, granted we don't have as many fans as other teams (ie Toronto) but still...

if you view the groups, you can count how many total sponsors there are, and how many of them came from this board, and figure it out that way

Its ironic that so many of us donate, yet we have for all intents and purposes, the worst page out of any of the 30 teams :lol

Ehh... I wouldn't go THAT far... I feel our page is actually one of the most up to date and has a lot going on, with the Ads and other stuff... we may not be in the top 15, but we definately aren't last.

Are you talking about the Preds/Hockey future page??? Its atrocious. Our best prospects are underrated, and several of last years draft aren't even given a rnaking or included in the depth chart. Most of the work was done by other writers as well

Probably shouldn't have said page... I just mean our section of the boards on here, it's a lot more active and up to date than many of the boards, that's why I just think we aren't even close to last.

Ah...I agree! I was talking strictly about the prospects page on hockey's future not our team mb.
