Nice to keep another right-hand shot in the system, at least.

Does this kid have any potential left or are looking at an AHLer at best?

He's always looked like a solid 4th liner at worst to me. Definitely not a top six candidate, but he has a solid defensive game, skates hard, hits hard, and seems to not kill a cycle with other decent players.

Mark me down in the AHLer at best camp. I just don't see it. Maybe a 4th liner on a bad team that for some reason needs more 4th liners.

He certainly hasn't improved, which is surprising to me as I saw him as a sure-fire NHL player on one of the two lower lines. And while he hasn't improved, things are seemingly compounded as he's probably been passed over by other prospects including Sceviour, Vincour, Toby Petersen and Krystofer Barch.

So he's a perfect fit here?

Krys Barch is now considered an NHL regular (albeit on a bad team). Anything is possible.

Sawada's a way better option then Barch. Sawada can actual win fights and he can actualy score goals off the rebound and shoot. Sooo yeah.

I'm hopeful Sawada finds a role in Dallas this year.

I am sorry but this is guy is a 13th forward at the very best. He could be a very late bloomer however.

Ray is what he is. , a good character guy and solid AHL player who has no offense at the NHL level. Frankly, he looks like a 3/4 liner in CP. He is a right shot , a organizational issue though so he may get spot duty. I think he is already behind Waltier now in addition to the guys on one way. He is also older than them as a college guy. It also helps that likely no one would bother to claim him if yo-yo ed for a game or 2. Good organizational depth and a nice piece for a young cp team. Nothing more.

The problem is that Barch is one of the worst players on aone-way in the NHL so by comparison almost anyone looks okay

Isn't that also what we thought about Crombeen?

No, I distinctly remember us thinking Crombeen very well could be claimed.

Who is "us?" Those of us on this board or the Stars? I don't know if there was ever a consensus on here, but the news I recall from the Stars was the opposite.

I've spent the last 20 minutes or so trying to find information on it, but I believe the Stars did NOT think Crombeen would be claimed. That was said by Crombeen after a meeting with, I believe, Les Jackson. Allegedly neither thought he'd be claimed by another team and he expected to be re-called within a month.

I swear I remember the board consensus was that he would be claimed when we waived him, I remember us being pretty upset about it. Maybe that was in hindsight only though.

Interesting.

Seems like revolving door thing going on, they're trying to find someone who'll stick on that 4th line.
