Jamie and philkessel have agreed to swap franchise names.

Thank you very much philkessel! As I explained to him and the reason he agreed is I've been doing FHL for 10+ years now and am a hardcore Oilers fan and have never had a chance to be them. I most certainly owe you one man, and will not be forgotten.

I assume we take a break from the draft overnight. What hours do we suspend drafting for? 12 am - 9 am eastern?

I've been told to pick for 1st overall because he's not here.

The Ottawa Senators select Alexander Ovechkin:

Hey be sure to PM the next GM so that he knows its his pick! Say that you've done it when youve made the selection.

it'll be so much easier if we all take responsibility to do this after each draft pick

**Also, if possible post a pic of the player, its MUCH easier to scroll through the draft and see the pictures where selections are made rather than reading each post

Hey, just curious what the UFA age is going to be. It could affect my first few picks.

Yeah, a bit of a quick run down on some expected rules (of if we'll vote or whatever the plan) would be helpful.

Do you have a website already? How many years do you think you're able to give the time to be commish?

30 Years old will be the cut off from RFA to UFA.

The website isn't up until I have the rosters, I can't do anything without it.

I haven't considered how long it will be up, but I'm a huge hockey fan it's not like I'm planning on giving up after 2 seasons.

Don't worry guys, make your picks based off of the Statistics I posted and we'll make sure everything is fair and even as far as contracts and age go. If we have to add years to players over 30 (Datsyuk) because their contract is only good for one more season then that might be the case.

You also get a Franchise tag ever 3 years where you're allowed to hold on to one player regardless of free agency.

Sounds good. 2 years for UFA's to be makes sense too.

So the duration and price of a players current contract should't really play a role in determining our picks? Does that mean I shouldn't worry if a good player has a poor contract because it will be reworked? Vanek, Campbell, Briere and to a lesser extent Koivu and Nash are all overpaid... but this shouldn't play a roll in my drafting as their contracts will be changed? What about players that are underpaid and locked up for multiple years, will they be modified too, ie: Burrows or Getzlaf?

No sorry I should have explained that better.

Use a guy like Brad Richards, 30 years old and soon to be UFA. If somebody drafts him in the 2nd round and only gets to include him into their roster for one year that's a bit unfair when there was a guy like Mike Richards still available.
In this situation Brad Richards will get an extra 2 years at his contract price to avoid that problem.
Vanek will stay at his normal outrageous contract because he's under 30 and free agency isn't a threat.
I think the cut off on adding contract years will be round 5. Anything past round 5 remains the same (Chris Phillips, Jason Arnott, Langenbrunner, Steve Sullivan, etc.), if this isn't done Free Agency will be irrelevant.

*Edit: ImOnFire81 has until 3:14 to make his pick.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought I understood before but your previous post confused me. I'm good now (aside from the Gagne trade... still dumbfounded by that one lol).

Just looking still for more clarificiation as not sure exactly how contracts are working myself.

You're example of Brad Richards you mentioned 2 extra years to the contract. Does that mean all UFA's up to Round 5 to be will have 3 year contracts? What about a player that would be a UFA in 2 seasons, would they get 1 year added on?

And to repeat someone else's question;
