mmm, why not keep Lev in Slovakia and have another KHL team in Prague?
This seems like a good idea. It could build a good rivalry between the 2 teams. Also, it seems their have been mixed reviews on the success in Lev. This is to be expected, give the team a few years to gain some trust with fans and to build a winning team, then see what happens. The media will give more attention the fans will follow a winner etc.. Also, the new arena wont hurt either. I don't think you can just start up a losing team somewhere and hope for the fans to go crazy for them after the first year.
Anyways, 2 days until announcement of 02 arena deal, this means the decision to move team will be made on same day?

no no.
This case of Bestsport (O2 Arena) is secondary problem. There is no direct connection to HC LEV. Maybe verbal deal is done among Kelner boy and HC LEV owners (CKD Group). Who knows? Courts will have to decide about restructuring plan of Bestsport, so it will take maaaaany time. We should find out after few days what are plans of creditors (sell arena? khl? any events?). Creditors refused to sell O2 arena in november I hope (company which owns O2 Arena in Berlin wanted to buy it).
City of Poprad discussed today what to do with building of training arena. It is one of condition, HC LEV should build (finance) it. Agreement among HC LEV and city of Poprad says "training arena has to be build until 30.6. 2012 (if I am correct). If not, agreement expires". Mayor of city said today that city is ready to postpone deadline. He also said that owner of HC LEV wants to relocate club to Prague. Mayor thinks that decision should be done within month.
I would like to understand why some Slovaks think that change in ownership means ipso facto moving. HC LEV Poprad sro was owned by czech company X (HC LEV Hradec Kralove sro), today is owned by company Y. Does it mean moving? No, it does not.
You should read fans opinions at slovak forums (club´s as well), so many well informed fans who know about moving etc. just LOL
I admit that moving can happen, but I am not so sure now. There is so many reasons against:
1.approval of czech federation - Missing
2.KHL approval of new arena - Missing
3.new deals with municipality - Missing
Vorky, this is your statement replied around a month ago. Now the only missing condition is the point 1. What do you think about it?

all 3 points are missing..
1.you said it
2.there is NOT approval of KHL
3.there is NOT deal with city of Prague or owners of O2 Arena (I thought that arena is owned by city not Bestsport when I wrote it)
I agree that something is happening now, but these pts are missing. Wait month or so and we will see. I am not 100% sure about leaving this summer.
So if there is no approval from Czech federation how can a decision be made about Prague? No decision can be made without the Federation otherwise it will just be blocked. Also, why does Lev have to be tied up in this, why don't they just get a Czech team to put in the arena/KHL. A long shot, but why don't they talk to Jagr, see if he will move his team there, he will probably be pro KHL/have federation on his side.

you are right. Many slovak fans and almost all journalists dont see that. I can not imagine that czech federation changes opinion (they blocked it last year).
It is easier to relocate HC LEV than create new franchise. And HC LEV is originally czech project, owned and managed by czech people. O2 Arena needs new events as soon as possible, they can not wait long time.
As I wrote, I am not 100% sure about relocating this summer according to info I have.

Maybe it is so, that they have already a silent agreement with Czech hockey federation.
Then it is only a matter of some hours to make it public. I think, they are waiting only for the season end and then it will be official.

2. Approval of KHL isn't a problem, because they want badly to go west.
3. Owners of O2 Arena and of course also city of Prague would be really happy, if tickets in O2 Arena will be sold out sometimes. Slavia Prague is considering to build a new stadium, because O2 Arena is too big for this club, rent is too big...
PS: Major shareholder of Lev - ČKD Group want to move the club to Prague.
So the only obstacle is Czech Ice Hockey Federation.
Krotak
ok, but today club does not fullfil these conditions. We have to wait. I dont want to speculate, it is too early.

do you have statement of CKD or only mayor´s statement?
so...
mayor said "CKD as owner wants to relocate club"
HC LEV said "we dont move"
CKD said nothing
there is contradiction..
we forget about Bestsport case. What will happen if court does not approve restructuring?
Yes, there are rumours about moving but it is not so clear today.
Some legal things happened in february and not everyone knows it..

alko
it can be like that. It makes sense but it is speculation.

I am not sure about it. I dont know. HC LEV would play in czech territory so czech federation should approve it. On the other hand Rachota, PR manager of HC LEV, answered to some fan that club does not need this approval. Who knows what is legal backround of it? I dont know IIHF rules..
Personally I think that O2 Arena owners have to have some agreement prepared already with the club/the city of Prague/CSLH/KHL or whoever for their judicial proceeding (2 days from now?) if they intent to use KHL for their arena. The question is if they really want that and if so, when it will go public.
restructuring plan says:
Bestsport will be split into 2 branches, BSS Arena and BSS Sevices. BSS Arena will be owner of O2 Arena and BSS Services will hold all debts. Important is that KKCG and PPF will become owners of BBS Arena, it means O2 Arena.
Court has to approve this plan
I still dont see legal backround for relocation of HC LEV. It can be like zorz said above.
Russian press say Lev's new owner has fired all the staff aside from players and coaches (and perhaps medicine group and like, I guess). More than 20 people in total.
I'd rather have established clubs like Slovan Bratislava in the KHL than artificial franchises with cheesy names like "Helvetics".
The "Helvetics" project is a very clever one and, imo, far more realistic than the expansion towards Italy. Obviously its main target are the swiss hockey fans and for them a name like "Helvetics" is all but cheesy, with all the due respect to swiss cheese.
