If you've been paying attention at all, you know that it goes both ways. Kovalchuk turned down LA's offers because they weren't enough, and LA turned down Kovy's requests because they were too much. In reality, both parties want to come to an agreement.

Yes sir.

Why can't they just sign him? This is getting ridiculous.

IF Kovalchuk signs with the Kings, once the terms of the deal are announced and the cap hit is known, then we will know which party walked away and which side asked to return to negotiations.

Like I said, BOTH parties want to get it done. Lombardi exclaimed that the Kovy talks were over, and a day later the deal was "90% done".

It's all Frolov's fault for having Dean read War and Peace so that he could understand Russians...

Ho hum, he's going to sign with LA. Could've avoided alot of problems and 6 extra threads if he only came to this obvious decision 2 weeks ago!

That might be being a little rough on Dean because Kovy was just to young to sign one of those crazy long deals where the cap hit was under 7 as it would mean him playing for peanuts beyond the age of 35. With his health record he could still easily be a good producer. I am pretty sure this has been the biggest challenge all along and we,ll soon know for sure. My guess is the cap hit will be between 8 and 9.

I hope Grossman is just trolling. He can squeeze at least another couple weeks out of this.

its obviously LA we know that already lets see the terms so us fans can all go crazy that our team didn't match it. i have a feeling the cap hit will be very low.

He's an agent nobody believed him in the first place. I think Grossman's only problem with the negotiations this summer is that his client was not well informed as to what the market would bear. Kovalchuk was a year too late to get "stupid" money.

how long can they go and stretch the boundaries? is 15 year the accepted limit since it puts him at 42 yrs old? what about an 18 yr deal?

What does make his decision mean? Doesn't he mean they will reach agreement with the Kings today? He makes it sound like Kovy is choosing from different offers with different teams. I thought he already knew he wanted to be a King.

Only if it is a very short-term deal, like 1-3 years.
