MMA Pick Em'

Would anybody be interested in a MMA Pick Em' game. My brother has one on the wrestling board. I know some of you already do picks, but I I haven't seen anybody actually keep track of the score. Undercard will be worth 1 point, title fights are worth 2. What do you guys think of this system, if you guys think other scoring would be better I'm cool with anything.

Yeah, I'd be down for something like that.

This was tried once before... lots of participation, but nobody was taking the time to tally things up.

If it was put together, I'd certainly participate. I think there should be a penalty for incorrect guesses though.

What do you guys want the rules to be? I was thinking undercard 1, maincard 2, non-title main events 3 and title fights 5 or something. Is that cool?

Cool. Do you guys want to do Versus/Spike cards or just PPVs? (that would be for the UFC) I guess we could do SF and WEC as well.

Cool with an incorrect guess being a minus of as many points as a correct guess is worth?

Keeps participants from being rewarded for simply plastering up guesses every event. Recognition goes to those most accurate.

I'm in. I also like the minus points idea.

Yes to Spike/Versus cards.

I'm not sure about the WEC cards. I'd be interested in it but I'm not sure how many have extensive knowledge of the WEC matchups, especially when losing points for incorrect predictions.

That being said, my vote would be a "yes" to WEC cards.

I wouldn't mind setting up other ones like, Sengoku, Dream, Deep, BFC etc..

I can do those if need be.

I think it would be interesting to do every card. Even Belator, Sengoku, etc. Hence the subtraction concept. There's no true advantage to throwing up predictions to every event, as you could just as soon lose points.

The plus/minus system would work really well I think. I'm sure a lot of the posters here (myself included) aren't knowledeable enough with some of the lesser known fighters in Bellator, Sengoku etc. to make informed decisions for every fight.

Would be a good way to keep up to date though.

We could link the names with Sherdog for everyone. Then you could go from there with your own research.

Or not pick in as many fights and while you may not be on top in points, although you easily could, you'd be on top in win%.

Would we have to pick every fight on the card?

I'm fine with UFC, Strikeforce, WEC, and some of Dream but I don't follow Bellator and Sengoku at all. Maybe I'll just sit those ones out. Even if I do research on the fighters, I'm still just going by what I read online.

IMO, picking the UFC alone is the best way to go. Or maybe the major NA ones(UFC, SF, WEC)

2 rankings??? Group the main ones, UFC/SF/WEC and rank everyone.

And everyone else who picks on other events also gets ranked on another absolute list.

I guess you would just pick as many as you feel confident doing (i.e. how many you feel you wouldn't lose points on).

Alright good idea. That's what I was thinking as well but this is for everyone not just me.
