Patrick Sharp or bust.

Give them Moller and Teubert for him at this point for all I care.

Smyth- Kopitar - Stempniak
Frolov- Stoll - Brown
Richardson- Handzus- Simmonds
Clifford- Schenn- Parse

Then I think you look into maybe trading Stoll and Williams.
I just threw up in my mouth.

I went over to the other site to discuss the Kovalchuk debacle, but when someone over there (who has been posting for a very long time) actually argued that it's a good thing we didn't sign Kovalchuk because we might not have the cap space to keep Richardson, I turned right back around.

This whole offseason is an f'ing joke.

Seriously. From going from a potential lineup with Kovalchuk to that....ugh. That would be a great lineup if we wanted a lottery pick next June.

Ryan wants a short term deal which is why the Ducks have been unable to sign him. The only way an offer sheet works is if Dean offers him a 1-2 year deal for big $$ that the Ducks cannot match. Even a 3 year deal is matchable. The cap hit has to be too big for the Ducks to bear for an offer sheet to work.

LOL at Lee Stempniak over Justin Williams. The Pacific is significantly weaker than last season so there's no need to panic and overpay a 3rd liner like Stempniak.

Maybe they got him confused with Brad Richards

Speaking of Richards - he's a guy who is rumored to be available because of his salary but there's no way in hell they are going to trade him inside of their division.

One has to wonder why Ryan doesn't want to sign long-term in Anaheim....I don't mean that as a joke, either. Just kinda weird that he doesn't want to commit.

And a 1-2 year deal doesn't work because he'd still be an rfa and could be offersheeted again!

I think it's going to cost a bit more to pick up someone like Sharp. I don't want to say I lost confidence in Dean but I think it's highly unlikely that we're going to see any action this offseason.

Yeah, but by now, I also imagined that DL would have locked up a #1 LW.

Getting Ryan via an offersheet or trade? The Kings have a better chance of getting Kovalchuk.

We agree there. I said it in the Kovy thread right before it got locked. We know what he can do on this team, time to move on.

I wouldn't doubt that we would make the playoff next season but I think we're going to be make another early exit.

If we play Vancouver with the same or nearly the same kind of roster as we did last season, we're screwed.

The following players are gone (apparently) from next year's roster:

Frolov
Modin
Halpern
Ivanans
O'Donnell
Jones

It is impossible that Lombardi will fill all of these spots with rookies. There is no rush to fill them, no need to panic, but I'd be willing to bet that we'll see 2 to 3 players from outside the organization joining us over the summer.

Agreed.

It really is up to the kids as of this point. I think Lombardi is still waiting for a few guys to break out and meet their full potential. He's putting a lot of faith in the youth and that's not a bad thing.

I'd still like to see some help on the offensive side of things though...

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Modin come back....I thought he was pretty decent in his short time here.
