I don't even want Homer to make any more moves. It's not worth the risk of him ****ing something up.

Or, if goaltending WASN'T in his top priorities, why did he get permission to speak to Nabokov and Turco?

Exactly. But if it was a top priority, he's failed magnificently. And the Flyers have watched quality goalies (not all-stars, but solid goalies) go all over the place at less money than they're paying Michael Leighton. Right now, I think he's down to two options - Turco (not bad on a short contract) and Theodore (ugh).

It's pretty obvious at this point that Holmgren didn't really have a coherent plan going into the offseason... and when you lack a coherent plan in this type of environment, you begin doing stuff that bites you.

We should make you the owner and GM then.

Everything you say makes sense.

To be fair, even JXC makes sense when the baseline for nonsense is Paul Holmgren.

I miss the days when the biggest travesty that occurred during the offseason was Randy Jones' contract.

I have to think a move will happen, though I can't say that the necessary removal of another piece of last year's team is something I welcome.
The difference between this year and previous years is that he didn't have Mike Rathje's contract preventing him from going too far over the cap. It more or less forced him be more tactical (at least by Homer standards) rather than the "spend now, worry about it later" approach of this offseason.

Worry about it? He never worries about it. I think he just doesn't realize we're running out of 2nd round picks to deal. I mean, who's going to give a **** about a 2nd round pick in the year 3127 when he needs to dump salary next year?

Holmgren has turned into Billy King when it comes to managing the salary cap. He overpays for guys who aren't even going to be one of your main starters, he signs limited role players for crazy contracts both in salary and in years. Then he makes one-sided trades to try and keep the inflated and bloated cap roller coaster moving.

Normally I'd re-post the "Way She Goes" video but I'll hold off.

I'd rather have Randy Jones than Shelley, Walker, and O'Donnell.

Thats right, I said it.

If goaltending were a top priority for him then he would have gotten a goalie by now.

The biggest thing with Home rs that he doesn't seem to have any kind of coherent plan. The facts that he gave up on getting a goalie after Nabokov and Turco turned down the initial low-ball offers and the fact that he made two separate trades to Tampa Bay (and got ripped in both of them) suggests that he's just making up **** as he goes along.
