Oilers and Jersey

With the jump in salaries in New Jersey a lot of experts say something's gotta give with the rest of the roster. The Oilers could be that team that has cap space to absorb salary and still provide decent return. So...

To Edmonton
Travis Zajac -- 3.888 cap hit
4th round pick 2011

To New Jersey
Sam Gagner -- est 2.00 cap hit
Taylor Chorney (2 way contract)
2nd round pick 2011

Jersey does this because they save 1.8 million in cap space. Gagner will be better in the 2nd line centre spot behind Arnott than he would be in Edmonton bouncing between 1st and 2nd line duty. Chorney will be a very good replacement for Paul Martin in the coming years.

Edmonton does this to gain better option for a number 1 centre than the current crop available
and so Cogliano can sleep better knowing those summer trade rumours are dead for at least another year.

Hell no. We can't trade a centre, and certainly not our first line guy. Zajac is going nowhere, I thought we already explained this.

LOL

Edmonton isn't trading Gagner, and NJ isn't making a trade anything resembling this one.

To anyone on ANY team who wants Zajac

he is UNTOUCHABLE unless a 1-2 center is coming back.
They finally got a 2nd line center no way they are now trading our top C

Is it possible to put away the NHL 2K10 for a while and snap back into reality for a few days.

Thanks

They wouldn't. Gagner has more upside than Zajac. Not that I wouldn't love to have Zajac on the Oilers, but not at the expense of Hemsky.

edit, I mean Gagner. Duh. Too many Hemsky proposals of late.

Not given your recent history. Gagner could up and bolt his first year of UFA eligibility for all you know.

Zajac is so overated. Similar start to NHL career as gagner but is now 25 and still not putting up 70 points playing with kovy. Gagner will be putting up better numbers at 25 guaranteed!!! Oilers say no to gagner for zajac straight up and Jersey is looking for a bona fide first line centre next year. Mark it down and remember I said it.

Nothing against Zajac, he is a very good center, but I think Gagner will be much better.

Yeah I think both teams hate this deal, but New Jersey hates it slightly more considering they're going to be contending and Gagner won't help as much as Zajac obviously will. Gagner's potential is nice to have for the rebuilding Oilers.

I'm just going to imagine that the Oilers just completed a Gagner for Zajac deal (as main pieces of course) and then both sides will be happy.

Zajac has improved every season he has been in the NHL. He is a great defensive centre, he puts up 60+ point seasons, and his chemistry with Parise cannot be understated. The Devils are not trading him for Gagner, or for most other players either, for that matter.

If Oilers fans wouldn't want to make that trade either, that's fine by us.

Zajac has had two straight years of significant improvement and you declare that he's topped out?

What are next weeks lottery numbers?

...so for your next trick, will you propose a Getzlaf-for-Toews swap?
