You know, CC, you ought to be in a better mood these days. You've been sitting there alone, watching terrible hockey for the last three years, having nothing to do from the second week of February on. Now, with the promise of better days ahead and a warmer nest, you're grouchier than ever.
Back under the bridge with ya!

well, I did get a free pass to the UNB Nationals and got to cheer for every team cept UNB, and they still won. I got to watch the habs go down which did put a smile back on my face. Everyone feels Biz can bring good things to the team. I wonder if Mike did not use his assist coaches as much as he could of or not. Do people think think that must have been it? I wish the new rink would come into play during the start of the season. People don't like me because I say exactly what I think. Most People support things blindly. I think Ryan has three years to turn it around and I hope he does. I think fan support is crutial, starting day one, because the difference in the first two or three recruits from team to team is about talent and the rest are about heart and hard work. The top three need the others 17 to have heart and work hard. We fill the rink and that will happen. Those players feed off of the crowd. In the beginning year or two players will have to come here because of the support, because we will not win out of the gate, unless Mike was keeping players away??

'' BETTER DAYS AHEAD"...

Can somebody remind me of the names of the Tommies going into the new campaign.
There is a core of players who with new recruits should present a better quality team under the new leadership of Coach Ryan, Coach Bissonette et al.
Hopefully fans will return to the Beav and offer positive support to the new order.

Big additions to STU with Van Laren and Sanza. I am really excited about both but particularly Sanza who has a great reputation. So far, so good for the new coach. Not bad considering he only started in May.

SANZA should be some combination of Mike Hansen and Mat Hogan and will certainly entertain Tommies Nation, former STU scout tells me that VanLaren is a good one and both represent a great recruiting effort by the new order. If the other 5 or 6 recruits are of similar quality then a very good hockey season is in store for the fans.

Van Laren (who i just found out is a hometown guy from Kingston, On) and Sanza are decent recruits for the future, but if anyone expects a win vs. UNB and 6th spot for this team is off the mark. All the other teams got even stronger. 7th is a better spot. Again, this rebuild is going to take at least 3 seasons

I don't think anyone is expecting miracles but if you graduate 3rd and 4th line guys and/or 2nd/3rd D pairings (probably depth D with the other teams) and replace with better players you have probably improved more than the teams that lost 1st and 2nd liners. SMU, Acadia, and even UNB lost some great players. Are their rookies (yes they do have some good recruits) going to fill the void???

I'm not suggesting anything but throwing it out there because I think we are getting better. I'm an optimist. There is no wheres to go except up or stay the same. I don't think we will stay the same.

of course STU will get better, there is no where to go but up. And no doubt the boys will win more than 3 games! May want to talk to oilslick, she was predicting playoffs AND a win against UNB. Couldnt tell oilslick any different. But in respect for other teams, i think UNB got better defenitly in the goalie department, and have Harty (ugh, Harty) and Gallant back. Forwards will probably be by committee points wise, usual UNB hockey. SMU defenitly replaced some cogs and are probably better. X is the same and Acadia got a little better.

for STU to make it to the show, they need to win the series against UdeM and Dal, probably go 3-1 if they can. Have to split with Acadia, split with X, and try to steal points (maybe some loser points in OT or a win) against SMU and UNB. That has to happen. If they dont win the season series against UdeM or Dal, then no playoffs.

I agree St. FX should be better this season but Acadia and SMU lost a lot of high end guys that are going to be tough to replace. It will be interesting to see how they do, especially at the beginning of the season when they are working in the new guys.

And even though UNB has the exact same defence back this season and a goalie who should (hopefully) be able to replace Yeomans I don't think anyone should expect them to give up only 43 goals again.

Both look to be good recruits. I had a list of guys I thought would play CIS this year and I had Van Laren on it. I wasn't sure whether he would stay in Ontario or not. Sanza is a good story, not many would expect a guy midway through his 19 year old season and still playing junior B to be captain of a major junior team a year later, especially with a number of returning players.

It is also encouraging to see STU get a few guys from the OHL, as they haven't done that well recruiting out of there the last couple years. It would be nice to see them have a real presence there, make some in-roads, and maybe start to build a bit of a pipeline.

I couldn't agree more. It needs to go back to the days when Rantfather was recruiting for Al MacAdam and we got guys like Gilmore, Hogan, Preston et al. and were on the brink of a championship every year. Fans want to see the team compete night in and night out.

SNIPESHOWS NEGATIVE COMMENTS serve no real purpose as he represents clearly what was wrong with the last coaching leadership when he mindlessly supported Eagles inadequate leadership, wisely the new order sent him packing to from whence he came..........his limited appreciation for the game appears on this site far too often with nothing but re-cycled information.

Coach Ryan et al has ALREADY demonstrated that he knows who and how to secure what is needed for a swift return to better days and having witnessed and participated in this once before it will be sooner than later that success will be apparent.... IT ALREADY HAS IF YOU CAN RECOGNIZE IT,'

Mr Snipeshow ( and I also know who you are) are like the guy who watches too many medical shows and then fashions himself a specialist consultant physician and
go back to viewing whatever it is that you view and give credit where credit is due and lay off the negative prognostications and get behind the "new order" .

I suggest that you get a new moniker, maybe something like "redundant information guy" or more useless info guy.

My apoligies to everyone who might be offended by ,what I hope is my last rant,as POSITIVITY is my intention for all future musings but things have been a bit dull on this thread for a while.

Don't be too hard on SnipeShow, father. I don't see anything overly negative in his recent post here, in fact I agree with him. In order to get to the playoffs, STU has to win against UdeM and Dal most of the time, they need to "steal" a point or two from UNB and SFX, they need to at least split with UPEI and ACA. There are six playoff spots and it's not hard to figure out the top 4 or 5. I know that you follow STU from afar, but I also know that you haven't forgotten how good this conference is.

Most of the posters are being objective, not negative. Until I see what the on-ice product looks like, I will reserve comment on the short term future of STU.

Don't forget that Dal missed the playoffs five years in a row before squeaking in last year. I admire your support for your team, but (if I may), I would caution you to not expect too much the first year.

Looking forward to a more Positive rantfather...

wow Rantfather, all i was doing was stating my opinion. Dont flame a guy who expresses an opinion on what the team has to do. Bringing in 2 guys dosent make this team a contender. Getting guys from the OHL, awesome. Im all for it. Did i bring up Eagles in my last post? no i didnt. I think you were just looking to bring him up and flame him again. Of course I would support Eagles leadership, he was my boss. Just like I support Adam Shell's leadership at RMC where I am at now. And I was never "sent packing" by Troy Ryan dummy, I moved back to Kingston for personal reasons. All i did was state the fact that this conference is really tough and laid out what i THINK STU needs to do to get into the playoffs. Bringing in 2 OHL guys right now, is not the answer. Bring in a few more CHL players, and let them battle, and do what I think NEEDS to happen for them to make the playoffs.

but dude, if you have a problem with me, send me a PM OR show up to RMC at Western in October and talk to me personally. Dont air out your issues with me on here.

You'll love Sanza. He's a 100% guy every shift with balls out speed. Leaves it all on the ice. Good Luck to Stevie...loved the kid in London.

Barry, I have no clue what your talking about. I didnt remove anything. I just saw what I wrote on your deal. And what test are you talking about. If you going to talk to someone, calling them a "phoney", at least make it more clear. I was willing to squash my deal with you like a man, but if you still want to act like a child, be my guest.

Rantfather & Snipeshow

This isn't the place to air your dirty laundry with one another. Everybody can have their own opinion and be happy.

Just smile, ignore one another (if you have too), and blame the Squirrels...works for me!! We all know UNB caused WWII, world hunger, and the earthquake in Japan. So in light of this, it makes your feud seem small, right? Shake hands and

thats exactly what i told him in a PM. No need to battle it out here. This place is to express your opinion, not to spout out false info or attack someone because their opinion differs from yours.....

I kind of agree with this, I find the margin of improvement is larger on a team that has really gone through the hard times then hires a new coach etc. There is alot more optimism going around in such cases, like you say, "more to improve on" sort of thing. I'm pretty optimistic about their chances myself, Ryan could have done nothing and have a better season.
Having spent most of my weekends plus two weeks in Fredericton area this summer,
and on numerous occassions having driven by the new arena going up on Kimball , what are your thoughts on that? What are their plans for the LBR? I really thought STU had something there, so they are into the Saint Mary's/Forum thing? I find that takes something away from the team identity, although noone would argue for a new community facility. Be a long walk from the campus wouldn't it? and they'd have to get across the highway too?
