I just died a little, inside

Because of the Gagne trade.

After bringing him up through our system you'd think they would keep in this situation.

Burns even more because of the Garbage return.

So sad...

Yeah, this one hurt a lot.

I tried preparing me myself for this one, but part of me was hoping some way. Wasn't meant to be. He will be missed.

I can understand needing to move a player, even one who is a lifetime Flyer and fan favorite, for reasons (ie cash/cap issues, salary demands, unwillingness to play, locker room problems, etc.) but not for what we got back. It doesn't improve the team or address any needs unless Walker becomes a top pairing D or the 4th round pick drafts a future top line talent or stud goalie. Either way, unlikely and unnecessary.

Agreed. I was prepared for him to be traded at this point, but that was based partly with the idea we might get something of value. And to hear Homer say "This was a move to solidify our defense." Total crap. It was a salary cap move. And if slightly upgrading the 7th defenseman is a move to 'solidify our defense' and that is the best you can do moving Gagne that's pathetic.

Gagne - Richards - Zherdev
Leino - Briere - Hartnell
JVR - Carter - Giroux
Powe (.7) - Betts - Lappy
Carcillo

Pronger - Carle
Timonen - Coburn
Foster (2) - O'Donnell

Turco (2.75)
Boucher

We could have gotten everyone we needed and kept ****ing Gagne. Unreal. I thought maybe Meszaros/Shelley would be okay if Homer had something in store for Gagne. I thought maybe this is the right time to trade Gagne. We could get a much needed top prospect. Ya know, replenish our depleted prospect pool. I was willing to give the Meszaros deal the benefit of the doubt...but I can't do that anymore. Just incredible. I can't believe this.

Zherdev better score 50 goals.

If we lose Powe too, our PK is severely hurt. I mean, Gagne was so good defensively, but I guess we upgraded to Shelley so it's all good.

I truly don't think it was possible to prepare for the magnitude of this trade...

Someone said to me that Walker can play as a forward, which also doesn't help us (making him an extra forward).

I was prepared for a trade, just not something this ... offsetting?

Saw the topic name, and I had to post. What other ways are there to die? How can you die on the outside? Wouldn't every death be occuried from the inside?

Also, sucks to see Gagne leave. It'll be weird seeing him outside of philly

It's extremely disappointing that the overspending spoiled our major asset's value and if we now have to move Carle as well it will only compound these feelings.

I am a Browns fan and had to watch the Team that was stolen from Cleveland win a Super Bowl with a majority of players that were former Browns and look like they still have a dominant defense and running game ten years later, so that really sucks. Kinda ironic because the Lakers relocated from Minnesota and became an elite franchise... I guess it all eventually evens out in the end eh?

Congrats to the Saints on many levels, I was hoping they would win.

Speaking of the Ravens: Watching Homer doing his thing this offseason makes me appreciate Ozzie even more.
At least one team I root for isn't run by a moron.

Yea, that hurts even more because of Ozzie being a legend on the field and holding records in Cleveland. Fart Mo (won't even type his name) holding that Lombardi trophy was soul crushing.

The (new) Browns have rebuilt 5 times since 1999 under 5 different Head Coaches and had a few quality players that got too "bigtime", draft busts and straight up horrible players that couldn't sign anywhere else.

Thankfully all the records, HOF and Championships (Pre-Super Bowl) on the field (Jim Brown, Brian Sipe, Paul Brown, Ozzie Newsome, Gene Hickerson, Leroy Kelley, Hanford Dixon, Otto Graham) stayed in Cleveland and didn't relocate to Baltimore. Sometimes, I kind of wish the (new) Browns had no affiliation with the (old) Browns and the records and head-to-head matchups wouldn't be tarnished. I mean it took 20/22 wins by the Steelers from 1999-2010 to tie and eventually surpass the head-to-head matchup with the Browns.

Atleast our common ground is our extreme hatred towards the Steelers from Jerome Bettis and Joey Porter to Hines Ward and Ben Roethlisberger.
