Jeff Vanderbeek appreciation thread

It's great to have an owner that's willing to spend money to put a championship product on the ice. Even if we don't win, the effort is there from the management standpoint which as a fan, is all you can ask for.

He will be rewarded with my entertainment dollar this year. I went to one game last year (St. Patty's day) and this year I will be going to at least 4.

And of course, I will be getting the #17 from team's website.

Its true. While the Cap hit was Lou'd doing, Vanderbeek will be on the hook for the bulk of that contract. Basically he's willing to shell out $100m. Good to see.

He really is a great owner and from personal experience, a very nice man that is truly interested in what the everyday fan has to say. He wants to win and is willing to open the checkbook to do so.

no disrespect to John McMullen but it's like night and day. Then again McMullen had a bad lease all those years at the CAA.

Vanderbeek is just the richest Devils fan. It's nice to have an owner who is committed to the team's success, not just his bottom line. He really does think like a fan, and so Lou has the backing to make moves like this. Although I'm sure it doesn't hurt that he is making a nice profit too.

I'm probably just repeating others with this statement, but Vanderbeek's a great owner for the simple thinking that he's a fan first and owner second.

He's committed to the success and prosperity of the franchise, both on and off the ice.

I have a feeling JVB was the driving force behind this. He knows it makes sense financially to have a superstar in your building nightly.

we've been fortunate to have owners throughout our history that have wanted to win first and foremost. Even the corporate Puckholdings/YankeeNets let lou do what he needed to win (of course it help the short time they were here we were already championship caliber). McMullen back in the day let Lou go out and get Stevens who was one of the highest paid players in the league.

He is a very nice man. I talked to him outside the HHOF induction ceremony for Lou. Gave me the time of day, it was awesome. Props JVB!

We sure are fortunate that VBK bought the Devils and was a driving force behind The Rock getting built.

The team VBK has let Lou put together right now deserves our support at the box office.

12-14k crowds need to be a thing of the past, we should average 16,500-17,000 next season and really get behind this team at all games, not just vs our rivals and "event games".

I hope concession prices don't skyrocket as they are already way too high, but we know what the ticket prices are going to be. The team should be real fun to support plus going to a Devils game at The Rock is much better than watching it on tv.

The Nets coming to The Rock actually may have helped VBK shell out the money necessary to lock up Kovy. The extra cash from the Nets, as bad as they are, is a real positive for VBK, The Rock, the City of Newark and us Devils fans.

You know what's hilarious? There are posters in every article on TG's blog swearing up and down that Vanderbeek is losing money and he'll never let Lou spend on anyone and he's in debt because of the Rock and we'll never be able to keep any talent because of that.

Then this move happens. Truly amazing. I think this kinda makes up for prospect camp not being open to the public no?

Don't believe the negative nellies on the other sites, most of them are Devils haters trolling in disguise as Devils fans. They do not know what they are talking about.
The Devils and The Rock has been a huge success thus far and it's only getting better with more nights booked with larger crowds.

I couldn't agree more.

This isn't only a Devils success but it really is an urban renewal success story in the making. Vanderbeek has done an incredible job...

That being said, I don't want him or marketing to be making hockey decisions which I fear is happening lately. I know butts-in-seats are important for new buildings but it can't be the driving force for hockey decisions.

The Devils are at the moment the 10th most valuable franchise in the league. They are making a ******** of money since the move to Newark. People like to cite the arena debt as "losing money", it is not, it is the same way a lawyer has to pay back almost six figures in loans to finish school.

VBK made the correct choice and he will see it at the gate next season. This team, which sold out half its dates made more money than alot of teams, teams which played infront of full houses nightly. This team knows how to make money and do business.

The Devils also attract the seventh highest television audience in the league, more than teams like the Capitals. This was before Kovalchuk.

The gameday experience is really what made the move to Newark so much fun, the bar atmosphere allows for a ton more pre and post gaming. I love it.

Here is to more carbombs from space next season.
